“Hey Jamie, what’s going on?”

“Oh, nothing, Drew. Just doing a little test. Kind of a scientific experiment. See, I was at the garden shop earlier and they had a sale on vases. I got these three. Nice, huh?”

“Yes, very nice. But what’s the experiment?”

“Well, I couldn’t decide which one I liked the best. So I thought I’d let Puss decide. Would he prefer the glass, the chrome, or the ceramic?”

“Why do you think the material is the thing? Couldn’t it be the shape?”

“I suppose you’re right. Or maybe even the scent. Cats have a very discerning sense of smell.”

“If you say so, Jamie. What about the sound?”

“The sound? You mean like when I wet my finger and rub it gently around the rim?”

“Yeah. But more like if you set these vases on a shelf and he knocked them over. I’m sure the sound of each crashing on the floor would be quite different.”

“Oh Gosh, Drew. I think we’re leaving them on the floor for now.”
