Chapter 6

We rented a hotel room in Dalton when we finally got there, and we also rented a storage comparment from a friend of mine in Dalton. I told him that we would only need it for two days, and he agreed to let us use it for just as long as we need, rent free.

I called my parents, and told them that I was back in Georgia, and that I did not come alone. With telling my Mom that, she immediately wanted to meet the young lady that I had brought with me. My Mom had no idea of the kind of stories that Jessica wrote, and for as much as I know, she still does not know to this day.

I told her of the things that we needed to do, and that I would see everyone the next day. She agreed, and told us to get some sleep, and hopefully we would be able to get Jessica an apartment.

"Well, looks as if you will be meeting your future in-laws come tomorrow. Is that alright?"

"Yeah, that is fine. I look forward to meeting to people that raised you into the outstanding young man that is standing before me. We need to look around for an apartment, though."

"Yeah, we do. I know where I have always wanted to live, since I have always wanted to live in Dalton. We will go there first." I am glad that I had mentioned this place to her, because as soon as she saw where I was talking about, she whole-heartedly agreed that is where we should try to get an apartment.

"I really like how these look from the outside, but, what will they look like on the inside?

"I don't know, I have never been in them. I hope that they are nice." We walked into the leasing office and spoke with a older lady, who was very sweet to us, and said that the only thing that she had available was a two bedroom/two bathroom apartment. I looked over at Jessica, and said, "Well, that's what I have always wanted. We can use the one bedroom as our bedroom, and have the other as a guest bedroom and an office."

"I agree, that is what we will take. How much will it be each month, though."

"Well, it will be $550 a month for rent, we will have to have the first months' rent up front, since you are wanting to move in now. The utilities are included. The only thing that is seperate are any of the extra things that you add... cable, telephone, etc.", stated Ms. Evelyn Green, the leasing office attendant.

"Wow, that's not bad at all, but, we want to take a look around the apartment before we agree to anything."

"That is quite alright. Let's go look at it now, and we can discuss any other questions you two may have.", Ms. Green stated.

We walked into the apartment, and fell in love with it. It was spacious. It was perfect for what we wanted to have at this point in time. "We'll take it.", both Jessica and I said at the same time. We both smiled as we said that at the same time. "The only question", I asked, "is if we are able to paint the different rooms as we see fit?"

"You are allowed to do that, yes, but upon you moving out, all the rooms must be painted white, or you can pay an additional $200 for the re-paint fee."

"Wow, I think that $200 is reasonable enough to have your men re-paint the rooms when we move out.", I stated.

Jessica suprised me when she went and had enough cash to pay for the apartment lease, in full, for the entire year. "The only thing that we have to do now is to move my stuff in, and place it where we want, or should we paint the rooms first?"
