Chapter 1: The Proposal

I was walking to the health services building. I had been told that I need to report there for a physical. I had already had one in August before classes started. I was told that there were some other tests that weren't covered by my doctor and they had to be done.

My name is Sean Parker. I'm a freshman at Cranford University in New Hampshire.

I signed in at the health building and sat in the waiting room. A nurse called me before I could even get comfortable. She led me through a series of hallways and up the stairs to the third floor. After going through some more halls, she stopped at a door and waved me into a boardroom. I was lost at this point and turned to ask her a question. However, she was closing the door and leaving me.

I didn't have much time to ponder my situation when a door on the opposite side of the room open and three women who were obviously older students came and sat down. The middle one, apparently the leader, told to take a seat. I sat down on the opposite end of the table.

"I'm Stacy Alton." The middle one spoke. "I'm the President of Psi Upsilon Mu sorority. We are called you here to make you an offer."

Stacy went on to explain that the sorority was established to foster the growth of women's issues and rights, to support the cause of furthering the standing of women in all aspects of society. She spoke of how the sisters were forbidden to date boys or men. They were to remain chaste for their college years and devote themselves to their studies and their sisters.

"In the 1920's, the morals of the woman became more relaxed. The sorority almost eliminated the dating ban, but it was struck down. It was thought that the women would be easily distracted with many men chasing after them. So the sorority devised the concept of the Safe Man. Each year a new male was chosen to be a Safe Man for the sorority. The woman could only date one of these men. This meant that there was not a big a distraction and the women still had a social outlet towards men. "

"As mores changed the Safe Men became sexual outlets for the needs of the sorority. The sorority began to sponsor these men in a way. They had a sizable group of women for their needs and were treated as kings with a beautiful house to share with the other Safe Men. They receive preferential treatment through out the area from the vast network of legacies."

"In return, we ask two things of a Safe Man. First he must remain completely loyal. By that, I mean he must never have sex with any one outside of the sorority, nor discuss the arrangement with the sorority. With the threat of STDs, we must protect ourselves. We also require the secrecy to maintain the image of the sorority and the reputation of its sisters. Few have gone against us and suffer the wrath of biting the hand that fed them. This loyalty must extend the rest of your life."
