Jamie and Clifford explored the playroom in Clifford’s parents’ house, hoping to find something appropriate to donate to the Children’s Rummage Sale.

“Was this your boyhood bear?” Jamie asked.

“He was!” Clifford acknowledged. “Back then he was bigger than me.”

“He’s cute,” Jamie said. “And his fur is kind of, well, interesting. What about this, um, doll?”

“What about her?” Clifford asked, a slight blush at his neck.

“No need to get defensive,” Jamie said. “And this hula hoop?”

“What about it?”

“I’m surprised a boy would go for pink.”

“I didn’t pick it out,” Clifford claimed.

“Okay. So show me your stuff.”

The hoop circled Clifford’s waist not quite twice before clattering to the floor.

“Not exactly a new world record,” Jamie said.

“I suppose you could do better?”

Jamie set down the oversized bear, stripped off her clothing, and took hold of the hoop.

“My God you’re good,” Clifford exclaimed, after Jamie put the hoop through its paces for more than a minute. “Maybe you could teach me your technique.”

“First you have to undress,” Jamie told him.

The lesson went as you might expect.

Afterwards they agreed to donate the doll and buggy.
