Megan was the first to wake up on Saturday morning. She was on her back, with Kim's arm across her tummy, and began to rub the sleep from her eyes. Carefully lifting Kim's arm, Megan slipped out of bed and stood looking over her sleeping friends.

Lisa walked into the kitchen and said, "Morning Megan, did you sleep well last night?"

Megan nodded and asked, "Are Kim and Sally still asleep?"

"They were when I came downstairs. I think they're worn out too."

"Okay," Sally said. "We'll see you in awhile."

Megan and Lisa went into the store, leaving Kim and Sally in the common area of the mall. The two younger girls started to walk, hoping the two boys would continue to follow them. They turned a corner and moved along another row of stores, stopping to look into the windows and glance back at the boys that were about fifty feet behind them.

"Let's sit on that bench and see what those guys do," Kim said to Sally, pointing at a wooded bench.

"The Academy," Kim said. "Where do you go?"

"We go to Jefferson," Todd said. "Frank and I are on the basketball team there. What are your names?"

"Why don't you guys give us your numbers and we'll call you if we can go," Sally said. "We have to check with our parents first."

"That's cool," Frank said. He gave the girls his number and then Todd gave them his.

Kim wrote down the two phone numbers and she and Sally told the boys goodbye. They walked towards the fountain to meet Megan and Lisa, giggling about meeting the two boys.

"Do you really want to go to the game next Friday?" Sally asked Kim.

Lisa and Megan came into view and walked over to where Kim and Sally were seated. They joined the girls on the bench and told them about the outfits they found.

"Do you guys want to work on your knots for the boating class?" Jack asked.

Tom went out to the garage and brought back two pieces of line about four feet long. He tossed one to Jack and kept the other. Jack showed the others how to tie several knots including a clove hitch and a bowline.

Paul tied a clove hitch around his brother's wrist and pulled him off the couch.

The four boys worked on the different knots until they could tie them easily. Jack showed them several others and they also learned how to tie them. After they were finished with the knots, Jack showed the boys how to plot a course on a chart.

"You guys should have been with us last summer," Tom said. "Jack saved our ass by being able to find a safe place to get out of a storm on Lake Michigan."

"Really?" Paul said. "What happened?"

Tom and Jack told the two boys about being caught in the storm and how Jack found a place to get off the lake. Jack took a chart book out of the briefcase he kept his boating information in and placed it on the floor. He opened it to the pages for Lake Huron and the four boys began to plan their trip.
