The rocks go out a long way, almost half a mile, and when the tide is out you can get to the end having to do only a little swimming, but when the tide is in you have to swim the whole way back. Jenny and I made the trek out, going almost to the end, the last part walking along the top of the rocks. Just before the end we stopped, noticing the couple down in the sea below.
“Are they...?” Jenny whispered.
“I think so,” I whispered back.
We watched for a little while, holding hands.
Jenny squeezed my hand and said, “Do you think we should head back?”
“I don’t know. Why?”
“Cuz we’re like spying on them or something.”
I said, “I don’t know. It’s not like we’re doing any harm. I mean they don’t know we’re watching.”
“But what if they should look up?”
“I think they’re too busy for that. And if they did, we could just wave or something.”
“But what if we run into them later. Like at a store or somewhere?”
