Jimmy’s birthday was coming up, and Jamie wanted to throw him a special birthday party. “How old are you going to be anyway?” she asked him.
“Why do you want to know?” Jimmy replied.
“Duh, well, I have to know how many candles to get for the cake.”
“Oh. One hundred twenty-six,” Jimmy said.
“Ha ha,” Jamie laughed.
“Keep in mind that’s meerkat years,” Jimmy said. “And chocwat cake pwease, no stwawbewies.”
“Wight,” Jamie said. “No stwawbewies.
“Will there be games?” Jimmy asked.
“Of course,” Jamie said. “I’m thinking along the lines of pin the tail on the meerkat.”
“I might have to veto that one,” Jimmy said.
“Okay, how about hide and seek?” Jamie suggested.
“Great choice,” Jimmy said. “I’m a master at that. But I think the name of the game is Hide and Go Seek. Either way, when I hide, I’m impossible to find.”
“Oh yeah?” Jamie scoffed. “I’m a world class seeker.”
“We’ll see about that. Close your eyes and count to ten, then see if you can find me.”
Jamie closed her eyes and counted to ten. “Okay, here I come, weddy or not,” she called out.
“I can’t believe you found me.”
“You’re just lucky I didn’t do you in the wash, thinking you were one of my dirty stockings.”
“Me a stocking? Ha ha ha,” Jimmy chortled. “If I were going to be a stocking I’d be a clean stocking, softer than soft and sexier than sex. Well, almost as sexy as sex. As for you finding me, I think it was beginner’s luck. I was just getting warmed up. Let’s do two out of three.”
Jamie counted to ten. “Here I come, ready or not,” she called out.
