“Karl how do you control people that can’t be bought?” Nameless asked me from across the table. Yes, Nameless had showed up again like a bad penny.

“I don’t know, I’ve never found it necessary to buy anyone, ha, ha.” I shot back.

“The problem is that the people you can buy, which is really just about anyone Karl, don’t stay bought, ha, ha. Of course then there’s the idealist thrown into the mix that doesn’t think he can be bought at all, it’s often far easier to remove him from the equation with an accident, or a bullet, but that violent act creates ripples in the still waters of the pond that might alert other predators.” Nameless chuckled aloud.

“As the Chinese Proverb so aptly says Karl; “If you are patient in one moment of anger, you will escape a hundred days of sorrow.” If your patient and research the person your interested in controlling you’ll find that they have ... needs Karl. Everyone has needs Karl, even you have needs. Every person you will find is a bundle of needs Karl. Find ... identify their need and fulfill it and you can own them for life Karl, just look at you yourself, you have responsibilities and people now that depend on you...” I broke in at that point.

“But those very responsibilities and relationships create their own conflicts of interest.” I told Nameless before he went any further down that road with me.

“That’s true Karl, very true, if I pushed it too far, but I would never do that.” Nameless chuckled. “A man’s got to know his limitation. I’m very much aware of my limitations Karl, ha, ha, ha.”

“As long as that’s understood.” I had to let him know I had limits too.

“Right now I’m ... really you are going to investigate rumors about, “the Group”.” He started off.

“The Group, that’s all you have?” I questioned with amusement.

“No, no, I have names Karl, ha, ha, ha.” He laughed. “I ... We don’t want to shut them down, we just want to know who really controls them and why. We think we see a disturbing trend developing here.” He told me straight up. “You can even take Kelly, and sweet little Ah Kum, Hell even invite mother and grandmother, if they want to tag along. Make it a family vacation. That’s the beauty of living out of a RV as a base camp and field office Karl.” Nameless chuckled.
