Chapter 16

Kylie was scared. She had spent the past week planning Prom night, and now that it was here, she was freaking out.

“Just relax,” Skyler started after witnessing Kylie pacing around the room.

“They will be here soon,” Kylie replied.

“Yeah, that’s good, as we have to be at the dance by eight,” Skyler added sarcastically. It was only five.

Kylie just rolled her eyes at the comeback. “You know why I’m pacing ... It has nothing to do with the dance.”

“Jeremy’s not going to do anything you’re uncomfortable with, Kylie. Even though I have only known him since you two started dating, that’s one thing I am sure of.”

“I know that too, but I really want to go all the way tonight. His parents are letting him spend the night, and we are finally going to have some alone time. I just wish I could get over my stupid nerves.”

“Nerves are a good thing. You’re going to have plenty of time to have sex, Kylie. Just make sure you’re really, really ready. There is no harm in waiting longer.”

“I don’t think I’ve ever been more ready,” Kylie admitted with a grin.

Skyler rolled her eyes again. “I could guess that by all our conversations this week. But just remember, all the planning you did may not go exactly how you want. Just go with the flow and enjoy the night.”

“You ready, man?” Jeremy yelled through the bathroom door.

“Almost! Just brushing my hair,” Bob replied.

“Again?! This is like the tenth time you did. Let’s go already!”

“I need to look perfect. I want to knock Skyler’s socks off.”

“Dude,” Jeremy stated, opening the door. “You look great. Now let’s go.”

Bob just chuckled and followed him out after using the comb once more. They were dressed in black suits with matching blue ties. The girls had yet to see their outfits, so they wanted to make a good impression. They also wanted to prove they could dress up once in a while.

Jeremy had rented a limo and a hotel suite for later that night. He decided to not tell Kylie or Skyler as it was going to be his and Bob’s surprise to them. It took a little convincing, but Jeremy was able to bring all his friend’s parents around to the idea. It helped that he promised they would not leave the suite once they arrived. The last thing they needed was a crazy night to mess up their college acceptances.

Just after six, they both finally exited the house and entered the limo. They had a short trip to Kylie’s, where all the parents agreed to meet for photos before they headed to the dance.

“I think they’re here,” Skyler told Kylie as she was looking out the window. She was quite surprised to see a limo pull up.

“Okay...” Kylie said, taking a deep breath. The girls both wore red dresses that were guaranteed to have the room staring at them. They had taken a mall trip earlier in the week with the goal of finding some nice matching dresses. They accomplished their mission after just a few hours.

“There they are,” Jeremy’s mom stated as they entered the house. “We were wondering when you two would show up.”

“Bob was getting his hair all done up,” Jeremy replied, pointing at his blushing friend next to him.

“Well, you both look great,” Jeremy’s dad added, with the room’s agreement.

“Hey Kylie, Skyler, your dates are here,” Kylie’s mom yelled upstairs.

“Let’s go,” Skyler told Kylie as they started to leave the room. They both had the feeling the boys would not be able to stop staring for a while.

“Wow,” Bob stated as the girls came down the stairs. Jeremy turned around and just stood in shock.

Jeremy was still trying to formulate words as Kylie walked up to him.

“Hi,” she said, giggling at his expression.

“ ... You’re so beautiful...,” Jeremy muttered.

“Thank you,” Kylie replied with a huge blush. She felt so appreciated and loved just hearing those words from Jeremy. She glanced over to Skyler, who was standing next to Bob giving her a smile.

“Now, let’s get some pictures!” Jeremy’s mom stated, grabbing a camera from her bag.

Twenty minutes later, the group made their way to the limo.

“Allow me,” Bob said while opening the door.

“He beat you to it,” Kylie whispered to Jeremy.

Jeremy did take Kylie’s hand to help her enter, which did not go unappreciated.

“So after the dance, I have a surprise,” Jeremy announced.

Skyler and Kylie both glanced at Bob, knowing he would spoil surprises under enough pressure, but he just pointed them back to Jeremy.

Jeremy just laughed and continued. “I have gone ahead and rented a suite at a hotel. All your parents are aware and have given permission. After the dance, we will go straight there.”

Skyler and Kylie just stared in shock, but Bob had a smile on his face. “ ... how ... did you convince them to allow this?” Skyler asked once she recovered from the shock.
