“It’s too bad you had to miss your grandma’s birthday,” Anna said to Pippa.
“You’re right, I felt bad about that,” Pippa agreed. “And to make it worse, she sent home a present for me. A golden heart necklace. Mom said it had been Grandma’s since she was a little girl.”
“Cool,” said Anna. “Do you still have it?”
“In my heart,” Pippa said. “There’s a picture of it somewhere, too.”
“Cool,” said Anna.
“Yeah, when I wrote the thank you note to Grandma, I thought it would be good to send a picture along with, to show her how the necklace looked on me. I was working on the picture when my boyfriend came over. I asked him whether the necklace looked better close up or from a distance. He said it would look better against my bare skin than against my top. I was wearing a tee shirt at the time, though, so that would have been difficult without taking the shirt off.”
“Did you take it off?” Anna asked.
“My boyfriend had never seen my bare breasts before. Not that there was all that much to see. Oh, Anna, you wouldn’t believe how brazen I was. Before the afternoon was over I let him see all of me. No touching, though. Just pictures. With my camera.”
“That was smart,” Anna said.
“Yeah, only as it turned out not one of the pictures was suitable for sending to Grandma.”
