Chapter 12: Back in College, Sam Perks Up

“Danni and her roommate Sarah were in their second year. They weren’t serious about anything, except for studying. I found out they were notorious for practical jokes, and crazy stories. She giggled. Like a little girl. Laughs just bubbled out of her, unpredictably.

“One day at breakfast in the Dining Commons, she said, ‘Look at Rachel, she got dressed in the dark this morning.’ Rachel was wearing one red shoe, and one similar but gray shoe. Her hair was awry, and her blouse was mis-buttoned. ‘She had a quickie with Allen this morning, I’ll bet. Hey, Sam, you got any classes this morning?’

“Startled, I quickly looked to see if my clothing was OK. ‘Made you look! Hee, hee!’”

Remembering Danni, Sam’s voice was pitched higher to imitate her playful voice, and he was smiling again.

“Naturally, she was ‘Danni,’ with an ‘I.’ ‘Not Danielle, barf.’ Literally, she would say, ‘barf,’ and imitate retching.

“Forgive me, Shari, but they’d revoke my man card if I didn’t talk about Danni’s body. She had the greatest tits. Like Dolly Parton tits.
