In the early afternoon on Friday, Larissa was driving to a traffic accident when her phone rang. “Hi, Larissa speaking.”

“Larissa, it’s Lucy.” And Lucy didn’t sound good – uncertain, hesitant.

“Hi Lucy, how are you?”

“Umm, not good. I’m at the hospital in emergency.”

“Oh, no, what happened?”

“I passed out in the supermarket, and an ambulance came and brought me here.”

“That’s terrible, Lucy, are you OK now?”

“Umm, sort of. I mean, I’m conscious, but they said it could keep happening.”

“Oh, I feel for you. Can I do anything to help?”

“Well, I was wondering, can you come and get me?”

“Umm, I’m working, it’s kind of difficult. What about Sarah?”

“I don’t ... well, she’s working.” Larissa knew that Sarah would stop working to do it, and could, but she could hear that there was something more going on, more reason why Lucy didn’t want to ask Sarah.

“Okay ... what if I ask Julian?”

“Oh, that’d be great!” Right, she really wanted Julian, she just wanted Larissa to be OK with that.

“OK. I’ll call Julian.”

Later, she looked at her phone between jobs, and saw a message from Julian: “Problems. Don’t tell Sarah where Lucy is till you talk to me.” Larissa nodded, pretty much what she expected. After her last job, she called Julian, and he explained what was going on, and they decided what to do.

She was riding home, starting to detox from her day, when Sarah called, so she stopped to talk to her. “Larissa, do you know where Lucy is? She’s not home, and no one knows where she is, and her phone’s off, and I’m really worried about her.”

“Hi Sarah. I do, and she’s OK, you don’t need to worry. But you do need to come talk to me before I tell you where she is.”

“Ummmm, Okaaay. What’s going on?”

“No, you need to talk me. I know that’s going to stress you out no matter how much I tell you not to, so come find me right now. Let’s see...” she nominated the nearest café.

She had just sat down with her water when Sarah strode up to her outside table, and demanded to know what was going on.

Larissa jumped up and hugged her. “Sarah, nice to see you. Sit down, and I’ll tell you what you want to know.” Sarah frowned, but sat down. “OK, Sarah, Lucy was talking to the doctor today, and then going out and doing a little shopping, yes?” Sarah nodded. “So she passed out in the middle of the supermarket, and didn’t come around until the ambulance people had come. They took her to the hospital to get checked out, and then she called me to get her, and Julian went and picked her up.”

Sarah was equal parts upset and angry. “And she’s OK?”

“Sort of. This is going to keep happening, it’s a long slow road back for her.” Sarah took a deep breath, and Larissa could see her try to control herself. “Why didn’t she call me? I would’ve gone to get her, she knows that. Fuck why is it so hard to get her to understand?”

Yep. This is why Larissa was talking to her. “Sarah, we knew you’d be upset, that’s why you’re here, so you can get upset at me.”

Sarah let rip, blasting Larissa for getting involved, Lucy for not trusting her, Julian for being fucking Julian, Covid for being covid, Lucy for being sick, and Maria for nearly everything. Right, this is why she had picked the most remote outside table. Eventually she slowed down, and then suddenly stopped. Then she sighed, and said, “Sorry, it’s not your fault. I shouldn’t be taking it out on you.”

Larissa smiled at her. “I understand, you’re doing it tough, and now your love hasn’t trusted you.”

“Why? I don’t understand. The two of us, together forever. That’s what we said.”

Larissa nodded. “Yep. So I’m going to tell you why we think she did what she did and then you can go find her.” Sarah gave her a long look, and then nodded. “So you’ve been really focused on her getting better, getting over this. You’re trying to keep her positive, right?” Sarah nodded. “Right, I totally understand. But then, the doctor told her that this could take twelve months, and not to get pregnant, and to consider taking a year off uni, because these effects might take that long to go away.”

Sarah took a deep breath. “Really? That long?” She was quite crestfallen.

“It might not. But it might, just based on what’s being reported elsewhere, and what her doctor’s seen. Of course, no one really knows with Omicron. And that was really difficult for Lucy to hear, because you’ve been really focused on how she’s going to get better really quickly. She’s worried that you won’t be around for a long-haul recovery like that.” Sarah was thinking about that, and she let her have a while. “And then she went off to the supermarket. Taking it real careful, walking like an old lady. And then bang, she’s on the floor and an ambulance guy is looking in her eyes. Sarah, she freaked out. And she was afraid to call you, afraid to tell you that she let you down, afraid of being a drag on you, a dependent.” Larissa could see the look in Sarah’s eyes. “Right, what she actually did was much worse. We know that, but we think it’s part of the brain fog. She’s not thinking quite right, and she’s really terrified of that above all.”

“So where is she now?”

“Julian took her home, set her up on our deck with a book, and lots of space around her, and she read and slept, and now she’s sitting on the beach grass outside our place, meditating. She’s sad, and scared. And she knows that you’re coming. Sarah, please love her and listen to her concerns before you tell her about how she’s made you feel.”

Sarah gave her a long look, and then said, “I will, I promise,” and then she was gone.

When Larissa got home, she plugged her bike in, went upstairs and then Julian pointed her outside. From the deck she could see Lucy and Sarah hugging closely and talking. “I’ve said I’ll make them dinner if they want.” Larissa smiled at him and set about catching up with all her church phone calls for the day. No Friday night party this week – heads down in the covid marathon, so they hadn’t expected to go out anyway.

She was still on the phone, working through her list, when she saw Julian walk out to Sarah and Lucy with two plates. He bowed to them, offered them napkins off his arm, and then gave them their food. She was almost as amused as they were, and then he sat on the deck with her and they ate together while she talked on the phone. She gave him a lovely smile – what a genuinely nice thing to do.

She’d worked through all her animal calls, and tonight she didn’t have any visits to make, and then she saw Sarah and Lucy stand up and start walking inside, so she stayed off the phone. Sarah helped Lucy up the stairs and then they came and sat in Julian and Larissa’s laps – so much for personal space – and then Lucy said, “First of all, we want to thank both of you. You’ve been so wonderful to us today. Julian for just dropping everything and coming to pick me, and then giving me space to process what happened to me.”

Then Sarah said, “And Larissa, for letting me blow up at you, and still being nice to me. That really helped us.” She shook her head. “And Julian, for talking to us last weekend. We figured out, by the way, that that was a set up. Don’t worry, Maria doesn’t know.” They both laughed. “You guys ... unbelievable. Anyway, thank you both of you.”

“So,” Lucy said, “we’ve made some decisions. Obviously we’re both worried about my health.” Julian and Larissa both nodded. “And as I am now, I’m in no state to go to uni this year. But I’m feeling a lot better about Sarah.”

Sarah smiled at them. “Thanks, guys, for making me understand what Lucy was worried about. We’ve sorted that out.” They leaned forward and kissed. “Lucy and me, for ever. But I’ve got to pick my socks up too. The last few weeks have made it clear that we need to work on our relationship skills.”

“Well, that’s always true, we all do, but you’ve had about as rough a time as you possibly could have,” Larissa told them.

“Yes, we have,” Sarah agreed. “But we want the kind of relationship where you don’t just survive the tough times, you sail through them confident that your relationship is solid no matter how hard things are. The kind you have. The kind where you can confidently let your husband spend the day with a woman who’s offered to bed him any time.”

“Well,” Larissa said, “what Lucy actually said was that she’d suck it up and be available to him. Julian’s never going to bed a woman who makes an offer like that.” Julian grunted his agreement, but Lucy ... she was devastated by that comment. Oh, of course. “Hey, Lucy, don’t worry. If we decide to help you get pregnant, and there’s lot to talk about, I know how we’ll do It, but we can get back to that. But yes, I’d trust Julian anyway. As for your relationship ... I agree. We’d love for you to have a relationship that’s solid through the tough times.”

“Thanks, Larissa,” Lucy said, “we just want to be like you, really. And so we thought about it. If I’m not going to uni this year. And if we want to work on our relationship. And if things are difficult with Maria...” Larissa interrupted and asked about that, and they hadn’t done anything they’d talked about with Julian. All too traumatic ... they loved Maria completely, but they couldn’t deal with either what she was doing, or doing anything about it.

“So...?” Larissa asked.

Sarah answered, “We’ve been talking about taking a year off and tripping around Australia. It’s something we’ve dreamed of doing when we finish uni. But if Lucy can’t do uni, and needs looking after kind of most of the time, and if I love her, which I totally and utterly do, then when will ever be a better time? So we’re doing it. See this van?.” She showed them a photo of a van on her phone, all kitted out for touring. “My uncle offered to loan it to us, and we nearly already did this. So now we’re going to. We’ll go up to his place this week, and then we’ll be gone!”

“Ummmmm, wow!” Julian exclaimed. “That’s a very big decision! Shouldn’t you sleep on it for a few days before committing? Really? I mean, you’ve had a rough day, and Lucy got really difficult news.”

Sarah and Lucy looked coy, and then Sarah said, “Well, it might be too late for that.” Oh? “I quit my job while were out there, cause I could do it over the phone, and, well, we also asked ourselves what Maria would do without us.” Larissa and Julian nodded, right. “Well, Aaden’s two friends need a place, can’t afford their own this year, but can’t go on at home now that Covid’s outed them to their families. So we talked to them, and they really want to live with Maria and Aaden. So when we finish here, we’ll go and tell Maria, and it’ll make it easier for her when we say it’s because of what happened to Lucy today.

Lucy nodded. “Yep. We both really wanted to do this anyway. And now we know that it’s right. We’ve talked about it for two hours, and we’re not going to change our minds.”

Well, wow. They talked about that for a while, and it was clear that Sarah and Lucy’s minds were made up, and they had enough money set aside to at least survive for six months, and maybe they could work on the road. “Well, OK,” Julian said, “we’re sure going to miss you guys, and make sure to send us all regular reports, right? But good luck, and we hope that you have a wonderful time. And you’ll be able to think of us, stuck here in Melbourne while have a wonderful time on the road.”

“We’ll be thinking about all of you!” Sarah said. “All the time. Well, maybe once a week!” Sarah and Lucy both laughed.

“Hey, Larissa, when you said before about getting pregnant, what did you have in mind?” Lucy asked.

“Well, Julian and I talked about it. Getting pregnant is a lottery. Some people, do it once at the right time, bang! Other people ... Steph and Xander, you know, Steph says they average at least 200 times a pregnancy.” Lucy was surprised by that. “So we really couldn’t get our heads around you and Sarah moving in and having sex with Julian all the time.” And neither could they, from their expressions. “And Julian’s not going to have sex with someone who’s sucking it up, no matter how much we love you. And it’s just not who we are, doing actual sex with anyone else at all.”

Lucy was nodding. “But...”

“Well, I did a bit of research, and asked one of the reproductive specialists at one of the vet hospitals who does insemination all the time, and he said it would definitely work if I blow Julian, he comes into Sarah’s mouth, and then Sarah does her best to get it as far into you as she can. That way, you get pregnant from Sarah’s tongue, and we’d be happy to do that as often as you want. And I asked, and Julian reckons he could suck it up for that.”

Lucy and Sarah laughed for that, but also their expressions were clear: that’s an arrangement that they really really liked. “Can we, like, practice that now?” Lucy asked.

“Lucy!” Sarah exclaimed. “The doctor said you can’t get pregnant now.”

“No, I can’t and I don’t want to. I just thought, do it in reverse, you can make me come, and then I’ll do my best to make you come while Larissa blows Julian into you.”

Larissa said, sympathetically, “Do your best? Cause of long covid?”

Lucy looked at Larissa shame-facedly and nodded.

“Oh, Lucy,” Larissa said, hugging her tightly, “that’s really tough. No wonder you girls are doing it hard. The most important thing for us if we’re going to do anything is to help you get your mojo back at doing that. Believe me, I can blow Julian. And Sarah knows how to open her mouth, right?” Lucy giggled for that. “And I bet Sarah’s quite practised at getting her tongue into you.” Obviously. “So we want to help you out.” Julian was nodding, absolutely.

Lucy and Sarah were game, definitely.

“OK. I love showering with people. Not sex, just good friends together. And Julian’s getting to kind of like that too. He’s even done it with a guy. Oh, believe me, I was surprised to, not that Julian would do it but that the other guy would. So how about Julian, you have a shower with Lucy, and I’ll have a shower with Sarah, and then we’ll move to our bed, and Lucy can get her mojo back?”

That was definitely a thing they wanted to do. Larissa helped Sarah up, and then in the bathroom, she undressed both her and Sarah while the shower warmed up. Julian carried Lucy over to the bathroom, and then sat on the floor with Lucy in his lap, hugging her, so they could watch the shower.

Once in the shower, Larissa said, “Ok, Sarah, the rules are, no touching between the legs, but anything else is up to you, and I’m here to wash you and look after you. If you want, I can wash your hair.” Sarah did want that, and when Larissa finished with her, she said, “That’s awesome!”

By the time they stepped out of the shower, Lucy and Julian were naked and waiting. “That looked amazing,” Lucy said.

“You can trust Julian with your hair,” Larissa told her while she towelled Sarah down. When they were dry, she led Sarah to the bed, and told her to lay in the middle of it and laid her towel on their spare pillow for her. While they waited for Lucy and Julian, she lay beside Sarah and gave her a gentle face massage and talked about the amazing things she might see with Lucy on the road.

A few minutes later, Lucy came into their bedroom with a lovely smile on her face, Julian following her. “That was very nice indeed,” Lucy said. “And that’s a wonderful view,” she continued, looking down at Sarah with her legs spread. She crawled up on the bed, positioned herself between Sarah’s legs, lowered her mouth to Sarah’s pussy, and got to business.

Julian lay down on the other side of Sarah, and smiled across her to Larissa. He used his free hand to play with Sarah’s nipples. Sarah was nicely warmed up, and starting to respond really well, when Lucy stopped. She made a face, and rested her head on one of Sarah’s legs. Resting, Larissa understood, and she gestured to Julian, who got it right and slithered down the bed so his head was lined up with Lucy, resting on Sarah’s hip.

“It’s a good idea to pace yourself,” he said, “and we know you can do this. Sarah’s got a really lovely pussy hasn’t she? Tell me, what’s the best way to get her off? Can you teach me here?”

“I’m sure you know your way around Larissa’s pussy by now!” Lucy said with a grin.

“Well, kinda. I know what she likes, but hey, here I am watching a lesbian at work ... how can I not ask? And what kind of guy am I if I don’t watch and learn? I’d have to give my guy card back.”

Lucy giggled for that and went back to work on Sarah, while Julian caressed her hair and back gently. Larissa continued massaging Sarah’s face gently, and leaned in and nibbled on her ear. “Secret admission,” she whispered to Sarah. “I’ve never watched a girl eat another girl out. I like it! Lucy’s very sexy.” Lucy was giving Sarah very meaningful looks from down there.

A minute later, Sarah came like a train. She’d hardly stopped shaking when she sat up, kissed Lucy forcefully, and then rolled her over so she was where Sarah had been. Then she kissed her forcefully again, slid down her body, and said to Julian, “You can keep watching. Larissa, Lucy would love what you were doing to me.”
