Dan gathered Brad, Jake, Peter, and Derek in the rec room. Karen, Wendy, Scott, and Vicky joined them.

“Peter and Derek, since you’re nineteen, you may be sent to Binghampton instead of here to the Falcons if Ottawa cuts you from the main camp.”

“When I was your age, players went to training camps to get in shape for the season. Now, players are expected to show up in playing condition. At least you’ve had time at the Falcons’ camp to prepare.”

“We’ll have some afternoons to go to the gym to work out after school or practice,” Derek said.

“According to the Senators’ schedule, all players begin physical exams and testing on the fourteenth. I imagine they have several floors booked in a hotel for you to stay.”

“Will we be able to watch any of their training camps?” Vicky asked.

“The players will be split into two teams for camp and scrimmages. While one group is playing an exhibition game, the others will be doing ice and dryland training, and then the reverse will happen to the other half. I doubt the Senators will have you four on the same team, so you’ll have to play against each other. Once you can tell us who is on which team, we will determine who can come to Ottawa and watch you play.”

“We could make it into a sexy mini-vacation weekend,” Karen suggested.
