One sizzling, August Saturday night, the 24-y/o white friends, Alvin, Jesse and Druid were drinking beer around a table at The Barrel ‘O Suds Tavern when the black-haired, 22-y/o Marie came in.

She noticed the guys, walked up to them and said, ‘I’m Marie. Do you mind if join you?’

‘Have a seat,’ Jesse responded as he patted the chair beside him. ‘I’m Jesse; these are my buddies, Alvin and Druid.’

‘Druid’s my nick name, because I’ve always hoped that pagan spirituality would appeal to girls into worshipping trees,’ Druid said.

‘Don’t listen to the sly devil. Truth is, we’re construction workers. What’s your job?’ Alvin asked.
