Chapter 1: The Textile Rebellion

When the doorbell rang Brilo Barnes was pleasantly asleep in his deck chair on the back porch of his medium sized two bedroom apartment. That apartment was part of a complex that housed ten other apartments very similar to his own. Each of those apartments you could either rent on a fixed term lease or rent to buy on a 10, 15 or 20 year financial plan. Brilo had been living here since both his parents passed away just on 12 years ago now and several years before all this new Lifestyle Nudism stuff had come into play. The money inherited from his deceased parents’ estate had gone towards a very solid down payment on the place with the rest being paid off on the 10 year plan which Brilo had only just recently made the last instalment on. It was a great relief to finally have this done leaving Brilo with quite a bit of extra cash to play around with on each fortnightly pay cycle.

This bit of extra cash Brilo had was being carefully put aside so Brilo could one day get out and see the world. Part of Brilo’s travel plans had come to involve travelling across to California to see if he could find out anything about Felicity Randell and if she was doing OK and was in good health and was happy. He had also calculated that she would now be just over 60 years old but that didn’t bother him in the least. Despite all this Brilo was also fully aware of the fact that his lover from all those years ago may not want to be found by him having moved on with her life and wanting to leave all that history behind her. If such was the case then he would just move on himself and head across to Europe and see the sights over there before coming back home and carrying on with his regular job at JC PENDALTON’S HARDWARE EMPORIUM.

Brilo actually felt very lucky to be employed where he was and had been with this company since getting an after school job there back in the 90s. That was many years ago now and those many years of faithful service were going to be rewarded with 6 weeks Long Service Leave. Those 6 weeks of paid vacation time were going to give Brilo the opportunity needed to fulfil his travel ambitions with the added bonus that he would now be able to do it all completely nude. He would be able to ride ships, trains, buses and aeroplanes anywhere in the world now as well as walk the streets and see the sights all totally naked ... as quite a few people had already proudly done.

One essential part of the itinerary would have to be a visit to the Cap d’Agde Naturist Resort in France. This place had become the epicenter for the tidal wave of public nudism that had swept the globe in the last 5 to 10 years or so. At some unmarked point in time around 2011-ish people started leaving the resort and decided en-masse that they were just NOT going to put any clothes back on. Quite a few got arrested but soon the flood tide was just too great to contain. What started out as just tens and twenties became hundreds and hundreds of naked people heading back home from their nude vacations and staying just as naked from then on.

Eventually dispensation was given in the legal framework of things for these neo-nudists to stay like that. This, however, was just on the streets at first but eventually spread to the shopping malls and workplaces and then finally just anywhere they liked. Two years after that first wave of ‘The Textile Rebellion’ - as it became know as - it became legal in France for a person to be naked anywhere and anytime they liked.

This ‘Textile Rebellion’ started to catch on in neighbouring countries until its flames finally crossed over into the United States of America. It first appeared in California then quickly spreading to other states as people discovered the wonderful joys of living life completely naked ... ALL THE TIME!
