A Serious Discussion

Fiction Story: In the wee hours of the morning Katlin has a serious discussion with her boyfriend Gavin about Halloween costumes and eggs. Illustrated.

Gavin was a little groggy. It was barely 3 a.m. The living room lights seems excessively bright. Katlin sat on a chair across from him. Naked. “We need to have a serious discussion,” she said.
Gavin’s shoulders slumped. “What have I done now?”
Katlin smiled. Briefly. “Nothing.”
“Oh,” said Gavin, scratching his head. “What have I not done?”
“It’s not about that,” Katlin said. “Two things. First, you know how you got to choose our Halloween costumes last year?”
“Katlin, it’s only February. Halloween isn’t for...” Gavin counted on his fingers. “Months.”
“Right. So since you got to choose last year, don’t you think it’s fair I get to choose this year?”
“Yeah, I guess so. What do you have in mind?”
“Bees,” Katlin said. “I want to go as a cute little honey bee. And you can go as the hive.”
“The hive?”
“Yeah. I’d make a head out of papier-mâché like a bee hive.”
