Chapter 34: Sunday afternoon

Sam opened her eyes and Stacy was standing next to the bed, checking Madison’s machine. Madison was still sleeping soundly; Sam felt her friend’s chest moving slowly under her hand. She watched Stacy for a few minutes and then Stacy looked at her.

“You think love can heal her? The doctors don’t seem so optimistic.” Sam said.

“Yes, that will be nice.” Sam said.

“Ok, Sam, let’s get you on your feet first.” Stacy said and walked around the bed.

Madison moved around Mr. Jones, and she felt Sam grab her hand.

“Everyone else is on the other side of the table, rock star.” Sam said and led Madison around the end of the table.

Madison sat and ate a lot of BBQ with her family and friends.
