‘As such I will have to see and handle dead bodies. I will also have to deal with some live patients that I am treating dying. I know it’s not quite the same thing, but my thought is that if I can’t handle one, I won’t be able to handle the other.’

‘I asked you to call in to check on how you were coping,’ the Super told him, ‘But I had an ulterior motive too. We currently only have one terminator. There are many reasons why he might be unavailable at any specific time. Clearly, we can’t have items left around waiting in the garage for long periods. So, I am asking you to consider becoming the deputy terminator.’

‘I don’t want an answer right now,’ he said, ‘Unless you want to say a definite no. Just think about it for a while. I believe you’re off to university this week, so come and see me next time you’re home and tell me then.’
