Chapter 2: First Love

‘If you will make me the promise I’m asking for, I will see that you have had the opportunity to do so by then.’ Lewis said.

Gemma looked at Ella who smiled and nodded. Then she looked at Rupert. He came over to her and put an arm around her. ‘We promise we will do as you ask.’ he said. Lewis looked at Gemma. ‘I promise too.’ she said.

‘Thank you.’ Lewis said. ‘This is not a step to be taken lightly, but I am satisfied that you have both thought it through sensibly and maturely. So, this room is now Gemma and Ruperts for two nights. Ella and I will take the other room.’

The looks on Gemma and Ruperts faces were lovely to see. ‘Just one thing,’ Lewis said, ‘I expect you to be discrete about it until you have honoured your promise.’

‘Rupert, come and get your luggage.’ After the boys had left the room, Gemma said, ‘Did you know he was going to do that?’ ‘No,’ Ella said, ‘I knew he was somehow expecting to get our parents to agree to you sharing a room in the near future, but I had no idea what he had in mind.’

Ella gave her a hug. ‘Enjoy yourself,’ she said, ‘But try not to look too eager to go to bed tonight.’

In the other bedroom Rupert said, ‘This is a wonderful surprise.’ ‘Are you fully prepared?’ Lewis asked. ‘Yes,’ Rupert replied, ‘I’ve carried a pack of three ever since I knew we were heading that way.’ ‘That should see you through two nights,’ Lewis told him, ‘But don’t be too shy to come and ask for another one if you get stuck.’

Rupert gave him a hug and left with his luggage. He passed Ella on the way. She stopped and gave him a hug too. ‘Look after my little sister,’ she told him. ‘I will,’ he promised.

Back in their room Ella said, ‘Well that was unexpected.’ ‘Rupert told me they had already planned it,’ Lewis told her. ‘I thought it would be safer as well as nicer for them to do it in comfort this weekend, so I asked him to wait a little longer.’

‘And it means we are together for two nights as well.’ Ella said grinning at him. ‘So we are,’ he said, ‘That never occurred to me.’ Ella thought he was serious for a brief moment then saw his lips twitching. As she hugged him, she didn’t even need to ask. ‘She knew if he hadn’t been satisfied Gemma and Rupert were ready, she would be sleeping with Gemma as planned.’

They went down to dinner an hour later. At the table Lewis noticed Reg looking at Gemma and Rupert. There was something about the two of them he couldn’t put his finger on. He glanced at Lewis who gave him a slight grin and a nod. Reg realised immediately and the unexpected change of floors was suddenly clear. He smiled.

After dinner they all went for a walk around the hotel grounds, then they sat in the lounge chatting about the following day. As ten o’clock approached, Reg said, ‘Well, we’ve got a long day ahead of us tomorrow, I think an early night is in order.’ He couldn’t miss the delight on Rupert and Gemma’s faces. ‘I wonder if anyone else noticed.’ he thought to himself.

After hugs and kisses all round they all went up in the lift together. Then more goodnights were called as the youngsters stayed in the lift to go up to the next floor.

At Lewis’s and Ellas door, they all had another hug and a kiss, then as Rupert and Gemma went off hand in hand, Lewis and Ella went into their room.

As Rupert closed the door behind them, Gemma came into his arms, and they kissed for ages. ‘If you would prefer,’ Rupert said, ‘You can get undressed in the bathroom and get into bed.’ ‘No,’ Gemma said, ‘Whatever we do, we’ll do it together.’ They had another kiss.
