Chapter 3: Goodnight Son I Love You

Taking each other into their arms, they hugged and had a long kiss. ‘I know we’ll still see lots of each other,’ Ian said, ‘But it won’t be the same. I’ll always love you, because you are you and for everything you’ve done for me. There can be no doubt that you have totally changed my life.’
‘I’ll always love you too,’ Alvin told him, ‘And don’t forget you changed my life as well. I wouldn’t be getting married if we hadn’t joined the hiking club, and that was because of you.’ Ian got up and put the duvet on, then as he got back in, he went into his favourite position for the last time.
As they lay there feeling happy and sad at the same time, Ian had his arm over Alvins waist and Alvin had his around Ian’s shoulders. ‘We both start new and happy lives tomorrow.’ Alvin told him as he kissed his head. Ian gave him a squeeze, then reached up and kissed his cheek. As soon as his head rested back on Alvin, he fell asleep.
Alvin lay there awake for a while, thinking about all the changes that each of them had gone through. He was pleased that he had helped others and felt sure that Ian would now carry on doing the same for Aaron.
Then kissing Ian’s head once more he said softly, ‘Goodnight son, I love you,’ Then fell asleep himself.
FRIDAY EVENING – FLAT
After work, Alvin, Ian and Aaron walked together to the flat. Alvin had suggested he came and gave a hand to load the car, then he could meet Travina so that he would know someone else on Sunday’s hike. Ian had decided to cook a meal for the four of them as a farewell for Alvin, so he had invited Aaron to join them.
Aaron had accepted happily, but was determined that when Alvin left afterwards, he would go too. At the flat, Ian and Aaron took turns having their usual showers, whilst Alvin did a bit of lastminute packing. They got fully dressed afterwards with having visitors.
When Aaron returned to the lounge, he found Alvin and Christine busy in the kitchen. He was introduced to Christine who gave him a lovely hug and a kiss and told him she had been dying to meet him. Aaron started laying the table.
As Ian returned from his shower, Travina arrived. Another hug and kiss for Aaron, and everyone else of course. They decided that they would eat first, then load the car. But they did all do a bucket chain moving all Alvins stuff from his room to by the front door ready.
Sitting at the table eating, they chatted about their week at work, then the hike on Sunday. ‘You’ll meet Hugh in the morning,’ Ian told Aaron, ‘So on Sunday, it’ll only be Nicola of our little group that you won’t have already met.’
After clearing away, they had a coffee then all carried things down to the car. Alvin took Aaron into his new bedroom and told him, ‘A lot of the furniture belongs to the flat, but the tv on the wall is mine. I’m not taking it with me, so think of it as a welcome present.’
‘The bedding and towels you’ll find in this room are also mine. I don’t need them, so those too are now yours. The bedding will be washed before you move in, but I won’t be at all offended if you want to get your own. I hope you’ll be as happy here as I’ve been.’ he told him. They had a long hug and Alvin kissed him on his head.
As they went out, Aaron said to Ian, ‘I’m going to go now too, I’ve still got packing to do.’ ‘Squeeze into the back with all my stuff,’ Alvin told him, ‘We’ll drop you off.’ After goodbyes all round, Ian and Christine waved as they drove away.
Returning to the flat, they stripped Alvins bed and filled the washing machine. Then they re-made the bed ready for Aaron. After that they went into Ian’s bedroom, stripped off and got up on his bed. They lay in each other’s arms for a while chatting as they caressed all over each other.
Then they made love. As Christine returned from her climax and Ian started thrusting into her fast, she felt sad that they wouldn’t be able to do this so often now with Aaron around. After Ian had finished, they fell asleep until the alarm went off.
Lying in each other’s arms, Ian told Christine about Aaron going out for dinner Saturday at three o’clock, and his promise to text when he left Kurts. ‘I’m sure that’s why he went back to the home so early tonight too,’ Ian told her, ‘I feel sure that he would have done all his packing earlier in the week.’
‘That’s so sweet of him.’ Christine said. They got up and had a naked hug. After getting dressed, Ian walked Christine home. Back at the flat he went to bed in his own bed and slept alone. That was the first time he’d spent a full night in his own bed since he had moved in.
SATURDAY – MOVING AARON
Saturday morning Hugh collected Ian, and they went over to the home. It was a large, detached house and Aaron had told him it had ten residents, plus the couple in charge. Aaron had been looking out for them. He invited them in and took them to meet the two supervisors. They were very nice and made them welcome with a coffee. They chatted to Ian particularly as they drank.
When it was time to go, Aaron went up to them and thanked them for looking after him. They both shook his hand and wished him well. Soon the car was loaded, and they were driving out of the gates. ‘Your new life has just begun.’ Ian told him.
‘No,’ Aaron said, ‘My new life began the day I met you.’ Ian felt very choked up hearing that. ‘I hope you don’t mind,’ Hugh said, ‘But I’m under strict instructions to take you back via mine on the way to the flat. Nicola and her mum and dad want to meet Aaron.’ ‘That’s fine with me.’ Aaron said smiling happily.
When they went in, Christine greeted Aaron with a hug and a kiss first, then took him into the lounge and introduced him to Nicola and her mum and dad before she greeted Ian. They all made a fuss of him. Her mum told Aaron that a little bird had told her he was dining out that night.
‘I’m sure that when you get back to the flat, you’ll be far too busy settling in to eat,’ she said, ‘So I’ve done a light lunch for all of us here.’ Aaron gave her a lovely smile and thanked her. At the table, Hugh and Nicola told them the purchase of their house was still on schedule.
They’d be moving in fully next weekend but would start moving their stuff in during the evenings this week. Ian and Aron immediately offered their help, which Hugh was happy to accept. After lunch Aaron thanked everyone and got a lovely hug and a kiss from Nicola, Christine and her mum. Her dad gave him a hug too and told him to come again soon.
There was no room in the car for another body, so Christine told Ian she’d walk over shortly. Back at the flat with three of them to carry it all, everything was soon in Aaron’s bedroom. Hugh left after a hug and thanks from Aaron.
‘Christine and I changed the bed yesterday,’ Ian told him, ‘So it’s all ready for your first night. Now you can take your time sorting out where to put everything. I’ll leave you to it,’ he said, ‘But be sure to call me if you need a hand with anything.’
‘But first, let me give you a ‘Welcome to your new home hug.’ Aaron went into his arms, and they hugged. ‘I still can’t believe it,’ Aaron told him, ‘Thank you so much.’ ‘Oh, I almost forgot,’ Ian said. ‘He put his hand in his pocket and pulled out a pair of keys.’
‘These are yours,’ he said. ‘One for the main front door and one for the flat.’ Aaron couldn’t trust himself to speak, so he just beamed at him as he took them. At two o’clock Christine arrived. After a long hug and a kiss, Ian knocked on Aaron’s door and called, ‘Christine’s here and I’m making a coffee if you can take a break.’ Five minutes later Aaron came out, and Christine gave him a hug and a kiss.
