‘You won’t need to see him ever again. Once he’s gone, you and I will go with Tom to the police station. The police doctor will examine you, then you’ll make a statement. I’ll be able to stay with you whilst you make your statement. After that you and I will come back here.’
Soon after there was a knock on the bedroom door and Tom came in. ‘He’s gone,’ he told them, ‘Johns gone with him. Are you ok?’ he asked Seb. ‘Yes, thank you.’ Seb told him, ‘Thanks for saving me.’ The three of them went down and got into Toms car.
At the police station Sergeant Gately was on the desk. ‘Hi Tom, Hi Lewis,’ he said, ‘Johns told me what happened.’ Then to Seb he said, ‘Tom will take you to see the police doctor, then you can come back to Lewis.’ ‘We’ll be in interview two,’ he told Lewis. ‘You know where the computer is, and I’ve called Terence in as an appropriate adult.’
Lewis went through and made a disk of what he had filmed on his phone, then he made a shortened copy of the video from the bedroom. He made a second copy of each, then returned to Interview room two. He was joined moments later by Tom and Seb.
A few minutes later Terrence arrived, ‘Hi Lewis,’ he said cheerily. Lewis introduced him to Seb and explained to him again that he was there because of Sebs age, just to look after him. Tom made the preliminary announcements on the tape and then he asked Seb to tell them everything that had happened.
Seb did as Lewis had told him and told them everything from Mrs Rutter being killed, up to last week just as it had happened. Then he said that if that had been the end of it, because he was so embarrassed about it, he would have just suffered it and said nothing.
But he started worrying that Barney might carry on. So, he confided in his friend Lewis. ‘Lewis put a listening device in my bedroom earlier this evening,’ he told them, ‘And he kept listening in just in case. Later on, Barney arrived, ripped my clothes off and started raping me again.’

‘It won’t say anything about you, because you are underage. But I suggest that as soon as you see your mum, you tell her that Barney didn’t turn up last night. Then say that when you looked out front as you went up to bed just after eight, you saw Barney being put into a police car.’
‘That should stop her thinking it was you he attacked. In the unlikely event that anyone at school recognises that he is your neighbour and suggests you were involved, just laugh at them and say, ‘Why would he want to bother with anyone my size. I’ll let you know what’s happening to him, after he’s been in court tomorrow.’ Lewis promised.
‘Have you spoken to Edward about the bullying?’ ‘Yes, I told him that I didn’t know much about what was involved. But I told him that I trusted the person who was arranging it for me implicitly, so I was going to try it, would he like to join me?’
‘He said, ‘Yes please.’ right away. ‘Good,’ Lewis told him, ‘Here’s Greggs card, give him a ring and tell him who you are. He’ll tell you when to go and see him. All I’ve told him are your names, ages and that you’re both suffering from bullies.’
