Prelude

What is truth and why does it matter? Truth is the only real coin of the realm. Any culture, any society by necessity depends upon truth for social interaction. Once you know someone lied to you, will you trust them again? Wouldn’t you shun, and avoid them if you can?

What do you do if you discover everyone is lying, that you live in a society of universal liars? Suppose lying is prevalent, accepted, lauded, and rewarded? What can you believe, who can you believe?

Believe in yourself and never lie to yourself. Be brutally honest regarding yourself. Leave. Find a quiet private place away from them, all of them. Turn your back on corrupt society, wish them to hell, and go elsewhere. Pipe dreams. Impossible. Is it?

When there is no place to escape to, when being a hermit isn’t an option, then what are your options? Withdraw within yourself. Hide in plain sight and work secretly towards a societal change. While such a hermit refuge place doesn’t exist, a nomadic lifestyle isn’t situated in any one place. Place is totally irrelevant to a nomad. What is the sniper’s modus? Shoot and move. That’s now my motto too.

How do I affect the greatest change in the shortest time? Start a movement, revolt, or a religion? Can’t imagine myself marching about holding aloft a repent placard. Besides, I have zero talent at oratory and have no charisma. Popular appeal isn’t an option for a nondescript fellow like me. Nondescript? That can be advantageous.

What options are left? Instigate. Set everyone against everyone and encourage them to destroy their corrupt society and themselves. What comes after? Well, if it’s just as bad or a worse society, just instigate over and over again. Keep destroying until eventually something good arises from the ashes. Maybe it never gets better but only worse and worse? What else can one person do? Optimism!

Start a newspaper or Internet blog? Power of the pen? Worked in the past didn’t it? Nobody believes anybody today. Certainly no one believes print, broadcasts, or blogs. What is the under lying reason for these total lies? The basis for a lying society is ... what? Discover the root cause, the basis, and change it! Attack the foundation!

Besides investigating causes and targets, I need to insulate myself from dependence upon society. Self sufficiency is the only defense, the only survivability option in a collapse. Also, to be a nomad, I will need transportation independent of reliance upon commercial fuels. A sailboat is the pretty obvious solution for all my perceived problems. First principles first. Food, water, and shelter. Find a boat.
