As Tim awoke, his gaze immediately fell upon the clock beside his bed, revealing the early hour of 4 a.m. His eyes swept across the bed, noting the absence of Tabitha’s familiar presence. A wave of unease crept over him as he realized she was not there with him in their shared space.

“Already missing her?” Miss C’s gentle voice broke the silence, her question hanging in the air like a soft whisper.

Tim sat up, running a hand through his tousled hair before responding, “Yes, Miss C. I already miss her.” The room seemed to echo his words back to him, emphasizing the void left by Tabitha’s absence.

Miss C said, “Close your eyes, think about her, and I will have my morning breakfast.” Miss C took her time and enjoyed a full belly.

Tim rose and said, “Thanks,” then headed to the bathroom, dressed, and started for room 512.

After room 512 and breakfast, Tim started for the bridge. He was thinking about Billy and how things were going. Next, he thought about the journey to Queen Jaclyn’s spaceship. He was uncertain about whether he wanted to use it or not.

He stepped onto the bridge and got the morning report from all the departments. He also received a report from the SSG2 and the Tarkeetta’s ship. He moved to his office and thought about Billy and what to do with him.

Sarah appeared next to his desk and said, “Tim, we have a problem; in fact, we have three problems.”

Tim looked at her and asked, “Ok, what’s the first problem?”

“The first thing is Billy is to kill Pauline.”

Tim sat up, his eyes widening. He asked, “Wait, how is he planning to kill her?” “Get her out of there immediately!”

Sarha raised her hand toward Tim and said, “Billy has already told her about his orders.” She wants to stay.

Tim now sat back in his seat and thought about what to do next.

Sarha said, “The second problem is that, apparently, there’s someone else reporting to the same boss as Billy, and they’re badmouthing him as a leader. It sounds like there’s some serious drama unfolding in the gang!”

“Do we know who this other guy is?” Tim knew this was going to cause trouble.

“At the moment, no, I don’t know his whereabouts. However, if you would like me to, I can call the number provided, and it will give me his current location. Would you like me to proceed with making that call?”

“No, right now, keep track of that number ... Have Pauline contact us if things get out of hand.”

“Tim, are you ready to tackle the third problem?” she asked as she turned toward him, warning him not to answer the door before hearing everything. “Bill and Tabitha ended their relationship last night; if she doesn’t provide more details, I will.” Tabitha knocked on his office door and entered.

Tim observed Tabitha’s appearance without inquiring further about it. He simply noted how she looked without probing for any details. He asked. “Are you ready to pilot the new ship?”

In a faint voice and with her head down, she said, “Yes, I’m ready as I’ll ever be!” She turned and started for the door. She stopped and turned back to Tim. As she rushed towards him, her heart heavy with regret, she ran into his outstretched arms and blurted out, “Tim, I’m so sorry! I made a complete fool of myself.”

Tim compassionately embraced her after seeing the pain in her eyes. He forgave her and comforted her in his hug. He then said, “I know how hard it was for you and that it was OK to make mistakes.”

They boarded the lift and descended to deck 9, where the other crew members were waiting by the shuttle. After boarding the shuttle, they settled into their seats.

Sitting silently next to Tim, Tabitha gripped his arm, her fingers curling around his bicep as she sought comfort and reassurance in the midst of what Bill had done to her. Tim glanced at her with a gentle understanding in his eyes, offering a slight squeeze of his own in response and silently communicating that he was there for her no matter what.

He heard, “Tim, we are approaching the docking bays.” He remembered another time hearing the same word: they were boarding an empty ship. Once his men were unloaded, they came under fire. It had been a trap.”

With an air of serious authority, he addressed the ladies: “You will stay on this shuttle until I feel it is okay to get off.”

They exchanged glances before responding, “Yes, sir.”

As the shuttle entered the bay and landed where instructed, the door opened, and Tim stepped out. Looking around and seeing individuals walking around. A small person, maybe only three feet tall, approached him.

“I am your guide. If you could follow me?” He turned and started away.

“Once you explain it, I will follow you,” Tim suggested. “Why are there individuals occupying this vessel?”

Tim’s curiosity peaked as he observed the unexpected presence of people on the vessel. He eagerly awaited an explanation that would shed light on the situation and provide clarity regarding the mysterious occupants.

“As you wish, sir. These are Queen Jaclyn’s clones, specially designed and engineered to maintain the functionality and operations of this ship. Each clone is equipped with extensive knowledge of the ship’s systems, including navigation, maintenance, and security protocols.”

Tim now understood and turned back to the shuttle and said, “Ladies, you may come out.”

Once everyone was out, he turned back and said, “Now, we will follow you.”h

They left the bay area and headed toward the lift and then to the bridge.

As Tim walked onto the bridge of their new ship, he felt the excitement buzzing through the air. As he observed, the clones remained diligently stationed at their posts, unwavering in their commitment even though the spacecraft appeared to be inactive.

As he gazed at the bridge, he couldn’t help but notice that the SSG1 Bridge was a dark blue hue, and this one was a lighter shade of blue. As he observed, each woman gracefully made her way to her designated station. The clone, ever vigilant and ready to assist, relinquished their seats to stand behind the operators, prepared to address any queries that the new operator might have.

Tim walked over to the sleek, new seat and carefully inspected it. With its ergonomic design and cushioned support, he realized that it was a conforming seat that would provide maximum comfort during long rides. Satisfied with his discovery, he settled into the seat, taking a moment to look around at his crew members. “Is everyone feeling comfortable?” he inquired. “If so, let’s take this baby out for a test spin and see how it handles.”

He looked around. Tabitha was down in front of him and to his right as the pilot, with Tawni at the helm of engineering, Mona in charge of navigation, Tammy handling communication, and Shanae at the helm of the tactical console.

With a deep breath, Tabitha initiated the engine start-up sequence, feeling the hum of power beneath her fingertips as she engaged each system with precision. The low thrum of energy filled the bridge, signaling their readiness to embark on their mission into the unknown reaches of space.

Tabitha experienced a whirlwind of emotions, some pleasant and others sad, as she retreated from the SSG1. As she gazed out at the boundless cosmos, strewn with brilliant celestial bodies, the reason she and her sister were here flashed back to her. She led the Nortaris to their next destination while gasping for air. At one point, she asked Tim, “Tim, what is our destination?”

As the SSG1 disappeared from view, Tim turned to his crew and said, “Find an asteroid field.” He explained, “That would provide Shanae with the perfect opportunity to test out her new weapons and conduct experiments.”

The crew quickly got to work, scanning nearby star systems for the ideal location.

“Mona. The responsibility is on your shoulders now. Locate the captain an asteroid field.”

“Right away, there’s one, ... a system over. Heading that way now.” She grinned as she pressed the buttons. She grinned and said, “The way this thing flies, we will be there in a couple of hours.”

The women, one by one, took their turns to leave their designated station on the bridge and explore their surroundings. Each of them carefully scanned the area, noted any potential hazards or points of interest. They ensured thorough monitoring and security of the entire bridge through their vigilant actions.

Despite encounters with smaller asteroid fields and clouds of cosmic dust, the voyage got off to a good start.

Two hours into their journey, Tammy, watching her scanner, saw three blips. “ She called to Tim, ‘“Tim, I have blips.”

Tim replied, “Are they friendly?”

“I don’t think so. They are lurking in a distant asteroid field.”

“Tawni, shield up.” Tim said as he turned toward her. He turned and called for the weapon clone to return to the bridge. As he approached, he said, “I need you to stand behind her station, and if she needs help, advise her.”

“Tammy, I need the images up on the view screen.”

Tammy switched the cameras to the front view screen.

Tim’s command was clear: “Do not fire, unless they fire first.” His tone was authoritative, leaving no room for interpretation.

Tim asked, ‘Weapons specialist, were you certain that the weapons have been modified to fire our nano-bot ammo?”

“Yes, captain. Per-Queen Jaclyn orders. They have been modified and loaded, ready for your orders.”

As they approached, the pirates opened fire without hesitation. Their deadly weaponry showed their ruthlessness in achieving their evil intentions. Laser fire flew through the air, warning anybody who dared to stand in their path. The pirates’ greed for power and profit left little room for pity or discussion.

Tabitha, with her unparalleled skills as a pilot, expertly maneuvered their ship with precision and finesse. She dodged incoming blasts with calculated ease, giving Shanae the perfect opportunity to unleash a devastating barrage from their weapons systems. The first round of shots from Shanae’s skilled hands found their mark, unleashing a barrage of shots from the newly installed nano-bot long-range guns. Crippling one of the pirate ships by taking out its engine in a spectacular explosion.

As explosions lit up the void around them and adrenaline surged through their veins, each member of Tim’s crew showcased their unique skills. Tammy kept communications running smoothly, while Tawni ensured that their shields held strong against enemy attacks.

As Tawni monitored the shields with keen precision, she noticed something peculiar: despite taking hit after hit from the pirates’ weapons, the shields showed no signs of damage. As she tried to understand this strange event, confusion spread.

Amidst the chaos of battle, Tim’s mind raced with possibilities. Could it be that Queen Jaclyn had equipped this ship with revolutionary shield technology that was impervious to enemy attacks? Or was there something more mysterious at play?

With determination in her eyes, Shanae continued firing at the remaining two pirate ships, each shot guided by nano-bots that began eating away at their ship’s hull. The once-invincible pirates now find themselves struggling to withstand the onslaught from this formidable crew.

Tim and the women ceased firing and gathered around the view screen. They watched as the three pirate ships started to explode, eventually disappearing completely. The women turned to each other and gave hi-fives.

Tim observed the performance and complimented the ladies, saying, “You did a marvelous job. It reminds me of some of the best men I have trained for combat.”

The women stood there, staring at each other, while Tim made his first allusion to his past. Silence fell upon them. Tabitha replied, “Thanks, Tim!”

Tim, without turning to look at them, asked if they needed to go find the asteroid field after having real target practice.

The women looked at each other and said, “Yes, let’s make little rocks out of the big ones.” They laughed as they returned to their seats, determined to carry out their plan.

Tim sat there and waited until they were seated and asked, “Well, I need your first reaction to the way this ship acted in our first combat mission?”

As the members of the team exchanged looks, the room fell into silence. Over the last few months, they have all endured much together.

Finally, after what seemed like an age, Tammy spoke out. “I have never seen something like it, despite the fact that we have battled. This ship was very resilient.”

“It was terrifying,” Tawni said. It seemed like we were about to die. But this ship absorbed it all, as Tammy claimed.”

With a nod, Tim affirmed. “I am aware,” he clarified. “I understood that feeling.” Before continuing, he paused for a moment. “But we succeeded anyhow. No big deal. That is the key concern.”

The whole crew nodded in agreement. They were all really lucky to have escaped unscathed. They had succeeded.

Tim followed up by asking, “How would you grade the ship’s performance?”

Members of the crew started raving about how well the ship was doing. They spoke about its good points, bad points, and ways it might be better.

His last words were, “Thank you so much for your comment. We may make significant improvements to the ship as a result of this.”

Members of the team gave each other the thumbs up. They had complete faith in the ship’s ability to meet their future needs, and they were all pleased with it.

Tim sat back in his seat, thinking about how this ship might come in handy. The SSG1 was too big to take into a dogfight, but the Nortaris was a suitable size for that. Ship size plays a crucial role in determining its effectiveness and maneuverability in combat.

Tim considered adding an MTS machine to one of the loading bays, which was another idea. That way, he and anyone else could travel to and from here in a matter of seconds.

Mona said, “Tim, the asteroid field is straight ahead.”

The air on the bridge hummed with anticipation. Tim, his face etched with a mix of concern and excitement, watched as the asteroid field sprawled before them, a chaotic expanse of jagged rocks and swirling dust.

“Alright, Shanae,” Tim addressed his weapons specialist. “Time for a little test. Pick a rock, any rock, and see just how many pieces your new weapons can turn it into.”

Shanae smiled, and the fierce desire to win shone in her eyes. She replied, “You are on, Captain,” and her fingers were already moving quickly over the spaceship’s controls. She chose an asteroid that was extremely big and had a rough shape. It had many close calls with other space rocks, leaving scars and pits on its surface.

As Shanae unleashed a barrage of energy blasts, the crew emitted a collective gasp. Because of the continual collision, the rock cracked and broke apart as it shook.

Shanae experimented with various weapon styles to ensure their respective functions. The spectacle was mesmerizing—a ballet of light and fire as each weapon carved its own unique signature on the once-solid rock.

The ship’s weaponry was on full display as the dust cleared, reducing the asteroid to a cloud of rubble. A greater comprehension simmered under the surface of the apparent sense of triumph that dominated the atmosphere.

Tim surveyed the scene, a satisfied smile playing on his lips. “Not bad, Shanae,” he said, his voice laced with pride. “Not bad at all. But remember, this isn’t just about breaking things. It’s about knowing how to use what we have, how to adapt, and how to survive.”

“Captain, I utilized just the weaponry that Queen Jaclyn provided. I refrained from using the nano-bot weaponry.”

Tim sat back in his chair and said, “Now that we have had both target practice and live combat fighting, I think it is time we head home.”

“Tim, have you thought of a place to leave this machine?” Tabitha asked.

Tim looked around and saw that the clones were back on the bridge. As each woman rose and left her seat, a clone replaced her. “Well, since the clones are back, I guess it would be okay to leave it right where we found it.”

Tim rose and started for the doorway. The small clone walked in and asked, “Was everything to your and your crew’s satisfaction?”

Tim rose from his chair and made his way towards the doorway. As he reached the threshold, the first small clone he had encountered entered the room. The clone’s voice was soft and polite as it inquired, “Was everything to the satisfaction of you and your crew?” Tim paused and turned to face the clone.

Tim stopped to collect his thoughts. “Tim took a moment to think. “Yes, I’m happy with how things turned out,” he said.

The clone nodded in understanding. It stated, “I am glad to hear that. Your feedback is valuable to us.”

“Thank you,” said Tim. “I appreciate your interest.”

With that, Tim stepped out of the room, with the women following, and into the bustling corridor. The clones resumed their cleaning routine.

As the team walked into the bay holding their shuttle, They saw that it had been mysteriously transformed. It had been cleaned, polished, and positioned for launch.

As the team approached the shuttle, they were met with an even more perplexing discovery. The clones they had encountered earlier were nowhere to be seen. Instead, they found the shuttle’s interior immaculately cleaned.

Tim’s suspicions grew as he examined the shuttle. There were no signs of forced entry or vandalism. The only evidence of any presence was the absence of the clones and the pristine condition of the ship.

The team cautiously boarded the shuttle, their minds whirling with unanswered questions. They discovered that the ship’s systems were fully operational, as if it had been recently cleaned.

Tammy turned to Tim and said, “I think we should bring our shuttle back each week. This is more like the car wash on the corner. For 14.95 credits, you can wash here every day for a month.”

Tim sat down in his seat, turned to see if everyone was in their seat, and said with a hint of amusement in his voice, “Take us home before Tammy thinks of something else.”

As Tabitha started the engine, the outer bay door began to open. There, across the outer space, was the SSG1 and behind it, you could see SSG2 and the Tarkeetta ship.
