Chapter 6

Kathy’s friends arrived right on time but since Kathy didn’t see them arrive, they parked in her driveway and were traipsing towards her front door before Kathy realized it.

Damn, she cursed at the sound of her doorbell ringing. When she caught sight of her friends gathered around the door she frantically looked around hoping Jeremy would stay out of sight. But somehow she doubted it. The bastard would probably torment her by suddenly appearing and asking to be introduced to everybody.

As Kathy rushed to answer the door she caught sight of him. Thankfully he was standing out of sight in the living room. His hands were in his pants pockets and he was staring out the window at the women gathered around the front door. Well, let’s hope he stays there, Kathy prayed.

Since she didn’t want her friends to see Jeremy, she didn’t dare allow them into her house. Not even for a moment. Instead she quickly closed the door behind her and began urging them back down the driveway.

“Come on, let’s go for the run.” Her friends turned to follow her. As the foursome trotted out of her driveway towards the park, she turned and caught another glimpse of Jeremy. He was still standing in the living room, staring at the women with an amused smile on his face.

Kathy frowned. At least my friends didn’t see him. That’s one good point in my favor.
