Kara blew him a kiss and went back to her room. Oh yeah, they’re definitely going at it. I wonder what went through his head when he came home to mom in that state.
Shock and surprise I’m sure. I can’t imagine she’s done a lot of the initiating up to this point.
Your imagination would be right. It’s been all dad; well, at least until yesterday. We appear to have really thrown the status quo out the window.
Good. It seems it needed to go. Kara plopped down on the bed next to Allison. “By the way ... may I ask what it was that got you two so focused talking about it that you didn’t hear me? It seems very important to at least one of you.”
Can I share the first part of our conversation?
Sure.
“I’m going to assume you heard the whole part about us as Alphas and the like. Am I right?”
Allison nodded her head, then pulled in close to Kara. “Yeah. Do you mind if we cuddle while we talk about this?”
“I was hoping you’d still be in the mood to cuddle. Anyway, what kicked off that little speech was that I compared our accurately representing our relationship to the work of revolutionaries. Emanuel’s feeling the murmurs of the school that have been questioning if we’re ‘real’, if this is even possible.”
“And you darling?”
“I really don’t hear it much, so no; it’s not really effecting me. I’ve been struggling with ‘can you really fall in love with someone that quickly?’; a sentiment I’ve heard far too often these last few days. It sometimes leads me to second guess claiming that I love you.”
“I know you do. You’ve put your well-being and needs on the line for mine so many times in just a few short days. That’s not something a person would normally do for someone they don’t deeply care about.”
“When I think of it that way, there’s no way the doubters can be right. Your scent wouldn’t turn me on like it does, or calm me when I’m feeling a bit frantic; your touch wouldn’t be so comforting. I wouldn’t be willing to become an angel of vengeance if I didn’t truly care for you.”
Allison glanced up at her, a nervous smile on her face. “You’d get retribution on the people who hurt me? Really?”
“Yes. Forgive me for bringing it up, but I’d absolutely be the hand of karma for that uncle of yours if you wanted me to.” Kara watched as tears began to flow from Allison’s eyes. “Oh cra ... I’m so sorry my love; I didn’t mean to cause you pain by bringing that up.”
Allison raised her head a little and looked Kara in the eye, smiling gently. “On the contrary...” she began as her soft sobbing quickly faded away “those were tears of joy. I can’t tell you how many people I’ve heard at school suggesting that I’m just your current toy, or that you’re hunting for your next girlfriend. They all seem to believe that you’re with me for some nefarious or selfish reason, and that the only thing I can be certain of is heartbreak when you suddenly leave.”
“Wait ... who’s been saying that?”
“That doesn’t matter. I know they can’t be telling the truth, but it can seem so real possible sometimes; so hard to ignore. That’s why I made the request I did earlier; that thought had come up again, and I needed firm proof that it was outright false.” Allison’s smile grew brighter. “And you gave me all the proof I needed. You were gentle and loving exactly when I needed it, rough and driving when my body just wanted a good, hard fucking. But, even more importantly than that; twice today you’ve given up your own energy to protect me from myself. I know you love me; there’s no way I can actually doubt that.”
“That prison isn’t you; that’s just a construct that had a purpose once, but has long since become obsolete. The bright, lively and loving woman lying on me is the real you.”
“That’s one of the things about you that I love; how optimistic and direct you are. If I ever think that my love for you may be false, I only need to think about how your scent can drive me ‘crazy’ or sooth me; how comfortable it is to just mold myself into you and sleep, or how infectious your energy and enthusiasm is. I can’t be wrong about it this; I know that I am head over heels in love with you Kara.”
Kara grinned and kissed her gently on the forehead. “And I am head over heels in love with you too. There’s only one other person who can instantly turn the fire on to full heat, or calm me down when I’m a little too ‘on’. I can’t help but look at your smile and smile back; seeing it fills me with such joy. My life feels so much richer since Sunday.”
“It’s just been a bit strange; I know our moms warned us that this will take real work, but so far its felt pretty easy. Those little doubts aside, of course.”
“We’re in the honeymoon period still, Ally. I’m sure the real challenges are going happen at some point; I’m just nervous about when.”
“Did you hear a lot of our conversation Manny?”
“Just that last bit. By the way, I think our time to cuddle before dinner will be over soon. Your parent’s bedroom went quiet as I was leaving the bathroom.”
“I wondered if that was a final scream from mom, or just a warm up. She’ll probably want to quickly shower herself, so we probably have another ten minutes or so.”
“Good. Would either of you mind if I don’t join you this time though?”
Kara glanced down at Allison, who’d closed her eyes again and was breathing in and out slowly. “I think that’s for the best.”
“Okay. I think I’ll surprise your folks by setting the table while they get ready.”
She nodded her head, then rested it back on top of Allison’s, smiling gently at her as he quietly left the room. “We ... we could have made room for Manny.”
“I know that my muse, and while that could have been nice, it didn’t feel right this time. I got the sense that this needs to be us time. We can’t always be attached at the hips.”
Allison giggled, and smiled. “You’re right. I feel like it’s more acceptable for either of us to be cuddled next to him, or together; but not just the two of us.”
“We’ll change that. This” she paused, pulling Allison a little closer “will become just as normal within the school by the time we’re done. The naysayers will eventually change their minds.”
“How can you be so sure of that?”
Kara grinned. “When I want to be a brick wall, I can’t be moved. We’re worth that.”
Allison sighed contentedly, and kissed Kara on the cheek. “Yes, we are”
Your folks just got out of the shower.
Oh well, I guess that means cuddle time is over for now. Were you able to find everything you needed to set the table?
Yes. Your mom hasn’t changed how she organizes her kitchen in at least ten years.
Kara ‘laughed’. Try fifteen. Allison sat up. Did you run downstairs without clothes because you wanted to, or to get the job done as quickly as you could?
The former. Will you two be joining me?
Duh Manny! Although, I won’t be ‘completely’ naked.
The shields or the ben was balls?
The shields. I love them, and want to wear them all the time if possible. “Will you want yours too darling?”
“I hadn’t really thought about it. Honestly, they’re not that distracting on their own, and they are gorgeous. But, they do draw the eye straight to our girls. At school that’s okay; at home though...”
“It’s a little weird drawing your parent’s eyes because of something like that. I understand that. But, is that any different from wearing a small swim suit or some other form of ‘sexy’ clothing where they can see it?”
“No, that’s true. And if dad was ever dumb enough to try something, mom would castrate him on the spot. Okay, I’ll join you.” Kara stood up and walked over to her desk, and grabbed both pairs of the shields. “Ordinarily, I’d love it if you’d put on mine and vice-versa. But I think this time I want to put on my own.”
Allison frowned slightly, but nodded her head. “I understand. If you need help though...”
“Yes, I’ll ask you first.” Kara passed Allison her shields, then put one her own down. She grabbed gently at her left nipple, and attempted to slide the shield onto it. “Hmm ... not out enough.” She played with nipple a little bit, then shook her head, turning to Allison. “Actually, my muse, I would like some help. Doing it myself isn’t the same.”
A huge grin appeared on her face. “Gladly!” She pulled Kara toward the bed, sat down, and gently took a nipple in her mouth. She began to suck on it; Kara moaned softly at the sensation, then smiled when Allison pulled away and slid the shield on easily. “Now for the other one.” Kara grinned as Allison repeated this with the other nipple.
“Goddess, that felt nice. It’s your turn next” she paused dramatically for a second “if you want help...”
“Yes please! Here, let’s switch places.” Kara nodded her head and sat down in front of Allison. Grinning wildly, she took the first nipple into her mouth, and sucked gently on it for a few moments before giving it an even gentler nibble. Allison gasped at the nibble, then nodded her head. “That was unexpected, but quite nice. Do that with the other one too, please.”
Kara pulled her head back, slid on the shield, and nodded her head. She took the other nipple, sucked on it a little, then gave it a few gentle nibbles. Good?
Yes, very. I think it’s ready though.
She pulled her head back again, and nodded in agreement, sliding the shield on. “There. Nice and stable. Let’s see if we can get downstairs before mom and dad.” Maybe we can even help him if he’s not done setting the table yet.
I’m almost done. If you two want to grab drinks and glasses on the way in though, I’d appreciate it.
Okay. Kara stood up and started toward the stairs. What did dad pick up anyway?
I think it’s a roasted chicken meal. I don’t recognize the name of the place though.
Is it Tio’s?
Yeah.
They’re a town over. Pretty new actually, but they became a quick favorite for when mom wanted to go out for dinner. The restaurant is pretty nice actually, and they give a lot of food for the money.
Oh yeah, Tio’s! Mom mentioned them a few months back if I’m remembering correctly.
Kara stepped into the kitchen and grabbed a few drinks from the fridge. Yeah. I think mom mentioned going there as a double date with you folks once.
And mom loved it. Manny, you have the best ‘senses’ of all of us. Are they on their way down?
Yes, but I didn’t need to use those for that.
I see what he means. They’re talking, and dad clearly doesn’t like what he’s heard.
“I don’t understand. Why do things need to change?”
“Because I can’t deal with things the way they are any more. Do you know how exhausting it is to cook, clean, and make repairs to the house, all while I’m getting paid work again too? I need you to pull your weight; it isn’t fair to me that you do next to none of the house work.”
“But, that’s the way it’s always worked. And I’m at work all day; doesn’t that mean anything?”
“And Kara is at school for nearly as long. Yet we expect her to do certain chores. Why should you be different?”
Kara and Allison put the various dishes onto the free hot plates. “Because I’m the one bringing home the money. That’s how this is supposed to work.”
“Maybe that’s how it was supposed to work when we first married. Not now.”
“And I suppose, if things change for me, they’re going to change for her as well?”
Oh dad ... that’s never going to work the way you want it to.
“Of course! But unlike you, I’ll only need to explain what I need once, and she’ll actually try to make the necessary changes. I need a husband who’s my equal; not another child.” They entered the dining room. “See this? Neither of us asked them to do this, but they did. Would you have? And tell the truth.”
“Well...” he began.
He’s nervous. He can’t outright lie, but he knows that if he tells the unvarnished truth, he’ll lose all ground in this argument.
So he’s looking for some way to spin the truth in a way that makes him look halfway decent?
Exactly my muse.
“I was thinking about it. But then you were...” he continued, pausing as Kara shook her head for a moment “down here waiting me for. And...”
“Oh no you don’t ... I know where you’re about to go with that line of thought. If you were truly serious about that, you would have said something before I needed to drag you upstairs. No, I know what was on your mind; you were going to simply kick off your shoes and go straight for the TV. I told you to tell the truth.”
“I did think about it!”
“For a few seconds maybe; before deciding you were too tired to actually follow through. Seriously Leonard, you need to stop following Bob’s example. His day of reckoning is coming, and it’s not going to be pretty.” Clara turned to Allison. “I’m sorry, I...”
“We can all see the writing on the wall. Dad’s been skating on thin ice for awhile now, and it’s about to break. That said, can we eat? I don’t know about everyone else, but I’m starving.”
Clara smiled. “I’d be surprised if you weren’t hungry. Yes, let’s eat.” She turned back to Leonard. “We’ll continue this conversation later.”
“Yes dear.”
I sincerely hope he realizes that this is only going to be as hard as he wants it to be.
Tell him that, my pillar. I don’t know that he’ll come to that realization on his own.
“Mr. Foster, if I may say two things real quick?”
He perked up. “Go ahead.”
He thinks I’m going to back him up. “I think I know how you feel. The paradigm your used to it suddenly changing, and I’m sure it’s terrifying.” Leonard nodded his head emphatically. “But, it was bound to change eventually. It’s just happening sooner than it absolutely had to. And that means that you get to choose how easy or hard the transition is. If you work with your wife, it’ll be a lot more pleasant. If you try to fight this, it’s only going to be that much harder on you in the end.”
“But, why did this have to happen so suddenly?”
Kara quietly took some potatoes. “Believe it or not, now is the best timing you could hope for. Would you really prefer to have waited for this to explode when Clara couldn’t take it anymore? That much resentment and anger would be horrible for both of you. This way, you two have a good chance to emerge from this much stronger together.” Do you think it took Kara?
That particular stare says yes. And it looks like you’re getting a subtle smile from mom.
“I’ll consider that. Anyway, let’s eat.”
It definitely took. Dad’s a creature of habit, and he never uses ‘consider’ for stuff he intends to ignore. Also, could one of you pass the potatoes?
I think they’re closer to me Allison replied. She took some, and passed them to Emanuel.
Kara grabbed some chicken and passed the plate to her right. “So, how was your day kids?” Leonard asked.
“About what we expected it would be. Getting people to believe us at school is proving to be difficult.”
“Well, your situation is rather ... unique. I’d expect that most people will need a considerable amount of time to adjust to it.”
“We expected that” Allison began “but what I wish is that they’d keep their comments to themselves. If they choose not to believe us, that’s one thing. But hearing that over and over again, in places where it’s pretty clear that we’re intended to overhear it; that’s getting tiring.”
“To be fair precious, that’s been restricted to the sheeple among the student body. The teachers largely seem to be saying nothing or talking to us directly.”
“That sort of behavior is part of why I’m nervous about your friends pitching in on the renovation work. Hopefully you three have surrounded yourselves with good people.”
“You can ask Mrs. Kirse if you like, Mr. Foster. She had a chance to see a few of them hard at work when they helped me move in on Saturday.”
“That’s another unusual happening. I imagine the circumstances must have been pretty strange for Bob to agree to his daughter’s boyfriend moving in to his house.”
They broke out in laughter for a few moments. “I’m sure he thinks it’s his house. But, we all know the truth” Clara replied.
“Mom made it clear that he’d better have a very good reason to say no. She wasn’t about to put up with his usual stupid arguments.”
“That’s not a very respectful way to talk about your father.”
“On the contrary, it’s perfectly reasonable. He has to be pretty smart to have made it as far up the corporate ladder as he has. But so many of his arguments with Mom either make no sense, or are poorly backed up. It’s almost like he wants to lose them.” That’s probably not far off the mark.
I rather think of like this: he desperately wants to simply turn off his brain and responsibilities when he gets home. But your mother is far too smart a woman to put up with that. “Or he’s dead set on ignoring his brain once he steps back through those doors”.
“His work is quite difficult, wouldn’t you agree Emanuel?” Emanuel nodded his head. “Still, I’m sure he knew what kind of woman Rebecca was when he married her. Any consequences of ignoring that are on him.”
That’s dad’s way of admitting his portion of the responsibility for where they are now, without having to say it directly.
Dad would never do something like that. He’d never admit to his part in the first place.
“That’s very true. I’m not going to make that same mistake. And, if I may, I think if I considered myself a friend to someone in a similar situation I’d feel responsible for making sure he knows that. Especially while he can still do something to remedy the situation.”
Nice Manny!
They really should be the ones guiding us; but if we need to guide them a bit, I intend to do so in as non-threatening of a way as I can.
You definitely got the gears going in his head.
“You make a good point. That is what a friend would do in such a situation.” And he’s on board I think.
Definitely.
“If I may ask, what were the circumstances?”
“I’m sure by now you’ve seen the news of what my father did. I was sort of able to see the writing on the wall, and knew I needed to be out of that house as soon as I could be. And honestly, I didn’t really have any other choices. My nearest family member is lives several towns over, and even though I was careful with my savings, I doubt they would have lasted for very long if I needed to find a place of my own.”
“You could have asked us” Clara began. “I couldn’t ignore someone in need like that; especially not someone who’s such a close friend of my daughter. It just wouldn’t be right.”
And that’s mom’s not so subtle way of saying dad wouldn’t have much room to say no either.
“I’m sure there’s more to it than that.”
“There is. Manny’s too humble to say it, but he’s the reason I was able to come back from an abyss that I had been sinking deeper and deeper into. He brought me back, and they know it.”
“Bob never mentioned anything about that, but it does make sense. You do seem more like the little girl who used to be here constantly when Kara was young. And I think I know why he didn’t say anything.”
I’m not surprised dad hasn’t said anything about it to Leonard.
I imagine admitting something like to his wife is one thing; but doing the same to a male you consider a friend is probably much harder. Yet another of those stupid attitudes that needs to change.
I agree completely Manny. I hope that you and Tony won’t fall into that trap.
It’s certainly easy enough to do. But I’m trying not to, and I don’t think Cosette will allow him to do so either. Speaking of them...
Them and my sister, right? Kara and Emanuel nodded their heads slightly. I expect at least one of us will hear about how that goes by the end of the week. Probably from Cosette, maybe a little bit from Sarah. I kind of don’t see Tony saying anything to even you though.
He wouldn’t. The code is very clear that doing something like that is in poor taste.
The ‘code’ actually exists?
Sort of, Ally. Not every guy follows it, and which parts someone chooses to may change from guy to guy. But a few pieces seem to be common enough among decent guys, and there are one or two almost universal ones.
Let me guess; one of them has something to do about talking in the bathroom.
Emanuel ‘laughed’. Bathroom etiquette in general yes, Kara. Don’t make eye contact with the person next to you, don’t make conversation while you’re doing your business, and do what you need to do then get out. As far as I’m aware, that doesn’t get broken anywhere.
How about the ones common among decent people?
Well, Ally, those are pretty simple too. Don’t share personal details about your sex life; especially no bragging about who you ‘did’ or how far you’ve gone with someone. If you need to say anything, keep it as general as you can. Don’t date a friend’s ex unless you’ve gotten their permission to do so, and even then it’s usually wiser not to do it. Three hard pats on the back during a hug means it’s time to end it.
I can’t say I understand why most of those are an issue. The bragging bit aside, why are those rules a thing?
What you do with whomever you’re with is the business of you and them. The only time it’s right to bring up something specific is when you need advice related to it. Even then, there’s a lot that can be accomplished by asking about something ‘for a friend’. The hugs thing is an old hold over, and I expect that as it becomes more acceptable for guys to show affection, it won’t be an issue anymore. As for the ex issue, it comes down to two reasons. The first is that it’s a respect thing; by asking you show that you respect them and the friendship you both have.
And the second?
Common belief states that girls will come and go. Keeping your friends close is much more important.
As close as it seems you’re able to get. Doesn’t the lack of sharing effect the depth you can reach in your friendships?
My muse, I think I understand this a little. If I’m right, then the depth comes as you both prove that you are true friends. As this happens you’re able to share more and more with them.
Precisely. Even then, certain things are only ever shared with your best and closest friends.
Okay, I can understand that. But why did you say usually it’s wiser to not date your friends’ exes?
Because, in most cases the friend is in a decent place mentally, and the ex is an ex for a good reason. Chances are good you know exactly what that reason is, and usually it involves something crazy or scary that they did.
What about the cases where the friend might be the problem?
Those are sometimes the cases where it’s not a bad idea to consider one of their exes. But if they didn’t say go for it, reconsider it anyway. Either they know something you don’t, or they’re crazy enough that going for it risks your own safety.
I can kind of understand that. It feels strange to me, though, that sharing is such a limited thing. At least, based on movies and the like.
Well, movies and the like also show guys sharing next to nothing with each other, while girls sort of over share. I personally don’t think one’s friends need to know every detail about their sex or romantic life, or anything really.
Really darling?
Yeah. I suppose you could call me something of a tomboy though; I never did understand a lot of the social norms society tries to push on us.
That’s fair. By the way, I’m think I’m starting to feel full.
Same here Ally.
How about you darling?
Yeah. We should probably finish up down here anyway; I get the sense that mom wants to continue her earlier conversation with dad, and that us being present is sort of getting in the way of that.
I’m getting that too. Besides, as much as I’m getting full on food, I’m feeling rather empty in another area. If you both know what I mean.
You’re insatiable Ally. After we finish our homework, we can remedy that.
Yay! I’m ... I’m actually really curious how it would feel to actually take both of you at once.
We can talk to Rachel tomorrow about it. I have no doubt there’s a lot of information she can give us to make that good the first time.
True. Oh, don’t forget to have your folks sign the release form tonight.
Thank you for reminding me, my muse. She looked at her parents. “By the way, Mrs. Frauhold gave me a release form earlier that I need both of you to sign.”
“A release form? For what?” Leonard asked.
“She wants to enter me for some Program based awards, and the release form would allow the school to provide the choosing committee support material to encourage choosing me for them. You know; stories, pictures, drawings; that sort of thing.”
“Oh, okay.”
“Wait a moment dear” Clara began “wouldn’t that leave you open to be used by them?”
“Ordinarily, it’s possible. But my loves have already seen this form before, and Allison’s dad had a close look at it before the Kirses signed anything.”
Leonard smiled. “If Bob picked through it, he would have caught anything problematic. I assume he made suggestions for anything he did find.” Allison nodded her head. “And is that the version the coordinator gave to Kara?” She nodded it again. He smiled again, and turned to Clara. “It should be fine then. I wouldn’t know what to look for, but for all that he can be stupid at home he knows the law in that area.”
“And I highly doubt he’d let something stay in there that could hurt his daughter.”
“Exactly.”
Kara finished the last of her chicken. “Then it’s okay for me to bring it down after we’re done eating?”
“Give us about half an hour, then sure.”
“Okay.” I’m ready to head up when you two are.
Allison smiled and nodded. I need a few more minutes partner. I’m sure Allison would love it if you went upstairs with her and gave her something to temporarily fill that emptiness though.
Please darling...
Kara grinned and ‘laughed’. It would be our pleasure. “We’re heading upstairs so that Allison can start on her homework from today. Her parents nodded. Kara stood up, grabbed her dishes, and headed toward the kitchen. “So” she began as she put them into the dishwasher “can it be anything, or did you have something you’d really like?”
“I like the ben wa balls, but I don’t know if they’ll be enough.”
“I know what you mean. That said, I have an idea. Are you okay with my choice being a surprise?”
Allison nodded her head. “Yeah. I don’t think there’s anything we have that I wouldn’t want used on or in me.”
“Good. When you get upstairs, lay down on the bed with your eyes closed, and I’ll give you your surprise.” She grinned as Allison quickly put her dishes in the dishwasher, then dashed for the stairs. Excited are we?
Very!
You have some evil plan, don’t you partner.
Of course. Kara quietly made her way upstairs. She grinned as she entered her bedroom to Allison on the bed, her legs open wide and her eyes shut tightly. Now, let’s see if I can remember where the thing I’m thinking about is. Her eyes scanned the room for a few seconds, landing near the bag from the store. There it is. She picked up the vibrator, unplugged it, and grabbed its nearby remote. “Ready, my muse?”
“Ready and waiting darling.”
Kara grinned, turned on the vibrator, and slowly inserted it into Allison. “Okay, it’s in. Full enough for you?”
“Yes. I don’t recognize what it is though.”
“I’ll show you. Keep your eyes closed for a moment.” She pressed the ‘low’ button on the remote. Allison gasped as it came to life. “Good?”
“Yes!” She paused, seemingly taking in the sensations. “I’d forgotten about the vibrator for a moment.” She sat up and opened her eyes. “Not too high on the settings though; I do need to be able to focus on my work.”
“It’s on low. But if a point comes when you need a break from it ... I’ll put it this way; the remote has eight different settings. I’m sure we can find a really fun one when you could use a rest.”
Allison grinned. “Would you like me to put your ben wa balls in before I start?”
“I think I’m good. I’m feeling the vibrator a bit too, and I don’t want to pushed too close to the edge yet. I don’t want to distract you.”
“I appreciate it.” Allison grabbed her backpack, pulled out some books and sat down at Kara’s desk. “Do you have something interesting to do while I work?”
“Yeah. A quiz that I would have needed to take during physics if Mrs. Frauhold hadn’t called us away.”
“That won’t take very long, will it?” Emanuel asked.
“No, but I do have a book that I’m in the middle of reading that I can change to afterwards. Don’t worry, I’ll be fine.”
