The morning of the 13 proved to be a special day. Not only did I wake up to a magnificent blowjob by an enthusiastic Nora, but I discovered a new power.
All morning my internal power felt scratchy. I could sense it in that internal corridor. I could feed power into it, either by directly absorbing mass, or absorbing the fundamental forces, releasing particles from the bonds of nature as I moved them around in groups as large as a few hundred septillion at a time.
I mentioned it to Nora during breakfast, and she said, “Maybe it’s scratchy because something is trying to come out. All you’ve been doing is absorbing.”
I thought about that for a moment. I’d not told Nora I love her, but comments like that sure encourage the feeling. I stretched out my hand, and focused on releasing power. One gram cubes of platinum clattered onto the table. Ten of them clattered out before I cut the power.
“The cube you absorbed!” she exclaimed, “You made more!”
I picked them up and examined them. Each was identical. They had the same number of atoms, in the same structure, and the same shape. They were also completely pure. I grabbed my phone to check the price for platinum. It was down to $28 a gram. Still, it was free money.
I tried to make something else, but all I got was more 3.6mm platinum cubes. I stopped when I had another 10. I wondered how much mass I could produce, and the answer came back to me immediately. I had energy reserves for 27.2 kilos. The number shocked me. That was a massive energy reserve!
Still I wasn’t satisfied. My storage was essentially unlimited. It cost me nothing to carry it around, and the more I absorbed, the easier it was to absorb more, and faster. My connection to my energy was thru a corridor to what I think had been an empty dimension. It conserved and protected any energy I directed into it.
While I could bring energy into it by absorbing the forces that held things together, or direct energy like heat, I could do that from a distance. That distance was about 500 meters now, and it kept growing, as did the number of atoms I could manipulate at a time.
Absorbing matter, or mass, required that I be touching it. Any part of my body worked, it just required physical contact. I could just absorb the air around me, but people might notice the breeze. It would also pull odors towards me, and the locals used way too much cologne. I suddenly remembered something about massive amounts of energy moving thru everybody and everything all the time.
Cosmic energy I think. I closed my eyes and concentrated on the energy moving thru my body. Wow, there was a lot. High speed particles coming from deep space and our sun. I focused on them, and began to absorb them. They weren’t very massive, but I could absorb them without anyone in the world noticing.
I focused absorbing first their kinetic energy, then their mass. I let the process run for a bit until it felt like I could do it without having to think about it.
An hour later I was at 48.2 kilos of energy. That was great, it required no thought, and as long as I wasn’t making platinum cubes, I could absorb. Maybe even in my sleep.
I was sketching out a design, using actual pen and paper, for a matching set of earrings and necklace using a very blue set of three 8 carat diamonds. The earrings were pear shaped, the necklace gem was heart shaped. I was pretty happy with my design, so I began crafting.
Using my power I created a hole at the sharp end of the pear shaped gems. The two gems were identical at the molecular level, so I had to be sure I got the holes exactly the same. That was easy, just run a line with my mind thru the gems, and then unhook the carbon and boron atoms along that line from each other, and scatter them to the wind.
Taking a cube of platinum, I grabbed onto the molecules with my power, and carefully pushed it through the hole just drilled. At the top I formed a small loop. I created a chain of small loops, five long, and then created a platinum hook to fit through the ear hole. The loops looked like tiny bits of lace, as I could carve it very finely. Because I could maneuver the atoms in any shape, when they resolidified, they did so as if they had been carved in place from a larger block.
I then used the same lace loop method to create a long chain. Instead of putting a hole through the heart diamond I wrapped it in a fine mesh of platinum across the back, creating a lace border that wrapped slightly around the front to hold it securely. A series of platinum hearts acted as the string that the pendant hung from below primary loops of the necklace.
When I showed Nora she thought it was beautiful, but wondered where she could wear it. That’s when I surprised her with tickets to the Zurich Opera House for a performance on Friday. She wanted to know what was playing, so I described it as something in actual English, so we would have a clue as to what was going on. Händels Belshazzar would begin at 7pm.
I began working on a ring for myself. Using the platinum I created a mans ring decorated with the various colored stones. I had blue, green, yellow, and black. I used my last 1 carat brilliant cut diamond, and tried to create a red or pink diamond. I couldn’t seem to figure out the lattice structure that produces pink and red, so I just left it as it was, perfect, clear, and flawless. I used the cubes of platinum, and embedded the diamonds in the ring, across the top.
There were no decorations, just a smooth polished surface, with five diamonds sunk into the top of the band. It fit perfectly of course, and I gave the ring a comfort fit, a rounded interior in the band. I slipped it on, and forgot about it.
Nora congratulated me on my craftsmanship, and then presented the available options for suitable opera clothing. She was taking her job as my personal assistant seriously. I looked thru the options she presented, I could either have someone come to our suite, or travel. I decided to travel, so she made the appointment, and by 11 we were in a car being driven three blocks down the street. The car I quickly discovered was for storing our purchases.
The personal tailor was able to use mostly off rack materials to provide a very nice three piece suitable for the opera. The minor tailoring would have the suit complete, and ready the next day. With my outfit taken care of, I was taken back to the hotel, and Nora left with the car to go find ‘the dress.’
I decided not to head up to my room, but wandered down the street to the Starbucks. With a peppermint mocha to ward off the chill, I wandered across the street to visit the jewelers. I showed him my ring, and mentioned I was looking for additional colors to add to my ring.
He asked to examine it, so I handed it over. “This is exquisite.” He commented, examining the gems under a microscope.
“I collected the gems personally. The last gem I picked up in Amsterdam.”
“Which diamond was that?”
“The flawless clear gem in the end.”
“Did the jeweler add that to the band for you?”
“No, I did that myself.”
“Very nice work, it’s an unusual mount. Most bands have a hole all the way thru where the gem rests. It makes the ring lighter, and isn’t noticeable when being worn.”
“It also makes the diamond sparkle more in the jewelry shop lights.” I commented.
“Yes, it does, he said grinning.”
“I’m sorry I don’t have anything suitable for such a magnificent piece. Each of those is a perfectly flawless gem, I’ve never seen the like.”
“It has taken me 86 years of life to gather these stones.” I replied.
“A fine collection it is.”
“Do you have any red, or even pink diamonds? I’m working on a new piece, and I’m thinking that accent color would be perfect.”
“Ah, you have made other items as well?”
“It’s only a hobby, but this is the set I’m most proud of.” I said, pulling my phone from my pocket, and showing the earrings and heart necklace draped across a white piece of silk.
“Oh my, that is incredible work. How were those chains even made,” he said, zooming into the picture.
“A variation on 3d printing, using very fine platinum wire as feedstock.”
“Still very impressive. I don’t have anything in pink or red, but I’ll give you an introduction to a man in town who probably does.”
