Introduction
Welcome to Part 3 of Time Scope. If you have not read Parts 1 and 2 of the story, I strongly suggest you read those Parts to gain the background necessary for you to understand Part 3 before you read the rest of this Introduction.
Now would be the best time to read those Parts.
Time Scope has taken a few twists that I had not intended when I first started Part 1. Initially, Part 1 was to be a short stand-alone love story between a young man and woman in a difficult situation. The story started with Jeb being informed that he was to inherit a share of his Great Uncle’s estate, which resulted in his meeting a young woman, Alicia. Their role in Part 1 ended with them committing themselves to each other and returning to their homes, which are in the outskirts of metropolitan Seattle, Washington. The Epilog introduced an alien spacefaring race and the possibility of a planet having trouble if they don’t return the Zldat lost by one of their ships that visited the planet.
Several of my readers asked that I continue the story, so I wrote Part 2. As Part 2 unfolds, Alicia and Jeb buy a farm and they move into the farmhouse; their twosome evolves into a foursome. The Time Scope Jeb inherited is actually a sentient being named Mary who can view the Time Continuum and make very accurate, short-term predictions about the future. Mary is the daughter of the leader of the planet Minnus, the most powerful planet in the Empire. Due to a disagreement with her father, Mary left her planet and her father needs to have her return to Minnus; so he had an Altairian spacecraft sent to bring her back to his household. Mary doesn’t want to return. Mary becomes the interface between the Alairians in orbit and Jeb and his ladies.
Part 2 ends with Jeb and his ladies learning that they are to be central figures in an Intergalactic drama. The drama requires Jeb and his ladies, four ordinary US citizens, to bring the representatives of Earth’s nations together in a series of meetings and to get them to agree to enter into an agreement with the Empire that the Altairians represent. If they fail, there is a very high probability that Earth’s civilization will be destroyed. Part 2 ends with four Altairian shuttles landing on Jeb and Alicia’s farm to begin the process of negotiating the agreement.
Well I hope I haven’t spoiled Parts 1 and 2 for those who haven’t read them. I hope you enjoy Part 3.
