Chapter 8

Bonny and Elinore sit in their cell, staring out through the bars at the guard patrolling the area. Elinore looks around searching for some way to escape with Bonny leaning back and accepting their fate.

“Bonny, what’re we going to do? If we had Kaito, we could’ve escaped but...” Elinore says fidgeting.

Bonny sighs. “We can’t escape it’s over. I’m going to get sent off and you’re going to go home, there’s no escaping that. Maybe fighting fate was a foolhardy thing to do, to begin with?”

Elinore stands. “No way Bonny! We can get out of this, we just have to find Kaito get him back, and then we can fight our way out.”

“Do whatever you want.”

“Bonny.”

She rolls over, turning away from Elinore. “I was going to betray you, anyway. I was just using you to get a hold of that item so I can sell it and you off.”

“Bonny.”

“Listen, I don’t care what happens to you so just break yourself out.”

Elinore stares at her before standing up. “No.”

“What?”

“There’s no way I’m leaving you!” Elinore yells out, rushing ahead.

She grabs Bonny pulling on her tail causing Bonny to scream out in pain. She scratches at Elinore, trying to free herself. “What the hell is your problem!”

As the pair fight, the guard approaches the cell, staring at the two as he opens the door. “What are you two doing?”

Elinore lets go of Bonny’s tail, rushing towards the guard and tackling him as Bonny watches on. She pins him down using her full body weight as Bonny stands up.

“What’re you doing?”

“Hurry up and get out. Go find Kaito!”

“But why...”

“Hurry!”

Bonny stomps ahead rushing towards the door leaving Elinore behind as she struggles with the guards. Closing her eyes and rushing ahead recklessly as she struggles to come up with some form of a plan.

Inside his inner realm, Kaito sits around staring into the outside world as he watches the guards blocking his view. He turns towards the angel as she floats around the area, huffing as Kaito sighs.

“How dare those fools continue to treat Master like he’s some damned bobble? He’s so much more than that.”

“Well, they don’t know. They can only see me if they decide to try. I’m more worried about Elinore and Bonny.”

She rushes down towards him. “You’re worried about that heinous girl. The one planning to sell you off?”

Kaito nods. “She’s not all bad. She might have been using Elinore, but she never tried to outright kill her in cold blood. She had plenty of times to do it, but she never did.”

“True. The one time she was about to go through with the act it was in some twisted attempt at mercy.”

“So, I’m worried about her too.”

“So kind-hearted, my dear Master.” She says clinging to Kaito. “Don’t worry, I’m sure one day soon your kind heart will be greatly rewarded.”

Kaito nods nervously. “You think so?”

“I know so.”

As they sit around a commotion happens in the outside world as smoke quickly fills the air and the guards rush away. Kaito watches on edge as a figure appears in his view, snatching him up and rushing off into the light as Kaito notices Bonny’s figure as she rushes ahead at top speed.

“Those idiots, the room with the highest guard would be the one with the most valuable items involved.” She says excitedly. “Now just to get you to Elinore and then we can get out of here.”

Kaito watches on, staring at Bonny as she rushes ahead at top speed.

She rushes ahead through the halls of the building, reaching her limits as she clutches onto Kaito’s armlet tight to her chest. She stomps ahead only for a towering figure to stand over her, grimacing with an awkward smile.

Almost immediately he slams a heavy slab of metal down to the ground, almost hitting Bonny as she leaps back. “Close, I guess that’s a cat for you.”
