Chapter 2

A few minutes later Kendra came back in wearing a gray sports bra and gray shorts. While James had put on a simple white shirt and jean shorts. When he sees what she is wearing, he makes a face and she tells him.

“Like I said you are going to have to get used to being naked when we’re alone. At the very least me being naked. As merpeople hate clothing. I’d be naked now but there are important things that we need to talk about. That can’t happen if you are distracted. So this is the best that you are going to get from me for right now.” She then joins him on the bed before telling him.

“So lets start off with the basic stuff you need to know. I’m a full blooded mermaid, so that means my mother of course is a mermaid and my father is a merman. We can swim for very long distances at a time and can breathe under water.

We can’t communicate with fish or dolphins or whales. Although I wish we could because that would be really cool. Merpeople mate for life. “It isn’t your fault don’t cry. I’ve already got a good job making good money. So unless things suddenly change which I don’t see happening any time soon. I have no need to go to college. If I ever have a need I have no problem going to the local community college.”

James was a professional video game streamer. He was a Twitch Partner and had endorsement deals with G Fuel, and energy drink company that was geared towards gamers. As well as a few computer part partners. He’d also recently come out with his own merchandise, which was selling really well. Kendra had actually helped him out a lot with the designing of the merchandise.

As he tenderly wipes away a couple of tears that leak out she tells him. “There’s more you need to know. While halflings exist they are extremely rare. That’s why our parents have never have any children together. It hasn’t been from lack of trying. We may never have any children together.”

James can see how painful that thought is to her. He lets go of her face and pulls her into a hug. She climbs onto his lap and hugs him tightly. After regaining control of her emotions, Kendra lifts her head to look at him and tells him. “There’s more you need to know. Every mermaid and merman, weither they live on land or in the ocean. Is ruled by one royal family. They set the laws and have people that make sure they are enforced. The current king is my mom’s older brother.”

James gives her a look of shock before asking. “You and your mom are princesses?” Kendra nods her head before saying. “Yes, but it is highly unlikely that either one of us would ever have a chance to rule. My mom is the youngest of 3.

Both of my uncles have children that would be in line for the throne before either of us would. Although we’ll probably never rule there is one advantage of being a member of the royal family.

Merpeople pay the royal family money. At least those that live on land. Those that live in the ocean pay by gems or other precious minerals. That is where mine and my mom’s trust fund money comes from. Add in the fact that my dad has night clubs not just all over the country. But in other countries as well.

He adds money to my, well our trust fund now. So we’ll never have to worry about money ever. We’ll have to go to the bank tomorrow when they open to get your name put on the account.” When James’s eyes widen in shock she tells him.

“I know that’s a lot to take in. So why let’s not worry about that till tomorrow. I’m sure you’ve got some questions for me so ask me whatever you want.” James shakes his head to clear it before saying. “You said mates are this permanent thing. But what about your parents, what happened with them?” Kendra shakes her head before telling him.

“My parents weren’t mates. They were just two people who met and fell in love. They knew they weren’t each other’s mates. That there could come a day where they’d have to break up our family. Neither one wanted that to happen. But my dad just met his mate one day.

They both cried about it as they really did love each other, but my dad had a deep need to be with his actual mate. Like I said it was something they knew could happen. So there weren’t any hard feelings, and they were able to remain close friends.” James nods his head in understanding.

“Why did you go out with guys in middle school and high school if you knew I was your mate?” Kendra knew this question was coming and sighed before saying. “Because I had to keep up appearances of a normal teenage girl. What popular girl in high school doesn’t go on at least one date every once in a while?

But they were always just one date, and all any of them got from me if ever was a quick pick on the lips. It gave me a reputation as an ice queen in high school. Not that I really cared.” James nods his head in understanding but looks a little confused.

“But if all you gave them were picks on the lips, how were you so good at.” He blushes before saying. “You know.” Kendra smiles before climbing onto his lap and wrapping her arms around his neck. “I watched a lot of porn.” She tells him.

James had always been told it was because Jewel and Kendra were afraid of flying. And while it wasn’t as fast as driving, the views were much nicer. James wondered if merpeople were even able to safely fly. That’d be something he’d have to ask later.

“Yes but I want to give you my mating present.” When James gives her a confused look she tells him. “It’s a present newly mated mates give each other. It’s ok you obviously didn’t know anything about mates until a little bit ago. You can get me something later if you want. It doesn’t have to be anything special.” Kendra then jumps off the bed and hurries out of the room while fixing her top as she went.
