Chapter 94: Sale Concluded

On exiting the plane Helena asked “Richard, in need, can I request you to keep in contact with Melbourne for me please. I feel a friendly face for them would be helpful. Also if they are having any trouble with that business next door quietly let me know via Lisa please.”

Richard smiled “Yes I will, I am only a casual for you at present but would love to become full time. You run such a nice company.”

Helena smiled. Walking upstairs to see Lisa, Danielle smiled saying “Good afternoon, your coffee is in the board room with Lisa, Miss Helena.”

Helena thanked Danielle and walked into the board room. Inside was Ben, Suzanne, Joe and Lisa. Lisa asked “OK what have you been wheeling and dealing with now?” with the broadest of smiles.

Fred laughed “Well, it like this, we were introduced to the most beautiful little twin babies boys and that started the ball rolling.” Helena looked at Fred, laughing, the other all looked very puzzled. Fred filled in the actions that took place.

Helena mentioned “And yes we have a good manager available down there. I would like to recommend Richard is used to fly between the two spots as they know him. We will meet here at 10am Friday to sign the deal and I’ll make the payment. Basically we are taking over their business, much like Tim’s, and make it a subsidiary of this one. Betty will come here on Friday as well, to meet you Lisa, her new boss and the office admin staff. Can we put them up in the units for the weekend please. William does have some 150 plus packages for Victoria weekly. From next week he will send them on to us here to deliver.”

Joe just looked astonished. Wow we let you go out for a day and you increase our business. What are their planes like?”

Helena replied “Richard will fill you in, I believe they are OK but Engineer will need to look. They are not to our standard. If you have a spare plane send them back in one of ours and send his plane on to engineer to upgrade. OK anything else?”

Lisa replied “No, why”

Fred replied “We have not had lunch yet?”

Suzanne replied “We can take you back to your unit now if you wish?”

Fred replied “Yes please. See you all Friday.”

Ben and Suzanne took them back to their unit. In the car Helena explained to Ben about the conflict of interest between the family and the need for Ben/Suzanne to be the independent legal reps. Helena also explained about the family and ensure George makes out a will here. Stefano can take that back to Melbourne for signing.

They ask Suzanne to meet for dinner with Zac as they have more property information.

They went to the coffee shop and had a sandwich together with three coffees.

Returning to their unit they laid down on their bed for a rest.

That night at the french restaurant the four of them had a good time updating each other about the trip to Melbourne. Zac did look disappointed about the news regarding the inspections. He was reminded they do have the building in Brisbane to oversee together with the properties in Qld and Vanuatu. He smiled at that.

Helena asked Zac “What is the latest from Petra please?”

Zac replied “Well all we need to do is the set the date and time for the presentations.”

Fred asked “What about Wednesday/Thursday, We can stay overnight in Brissie and come back down on Friday.”

Zac replied “That sounds like a plan, I’ll get Petra to organise the presentations. I take it Petra will be staying overnight as well?”

Helena replied “Yes together with Jane, Andrew and Ben. Bill can organise the trip up and back in a limo. I don’t think we need him or a driver to stay with us. Bill has been requested to check out the Vanuatu operations by William anyway. If he is away and Julie wants to be with us then that is Ok.”

Zac replied “O, Yes, I was to inform you Helena, Petra advised they do have a good coffee machine installed. Apparently Danielle helped out in that area when she assisted with the computer installation.” Everyone laughed.

Harry mentioned ‘They do love you and only want the best for you.’ Suzanne then smiled nodding her head at Harry’s remarks.

On Friday Julie picked them up to take to the airport. She explained next week they will both be away in Vanuatu and Ian will take over bookings. They have been training him for that role. He will arrange for the limo to deliver you to Brisbane for 10.30am and collect you after 1-00 pm Friday. Helena thanked Julie for the information.

George, Betty, Stefano and Maria arrived at 9.45. George was impressed with the sheds, Joe and Lisa took them for a walk around. At 10.30am they all sat down in the board room with some coffee and home made biscuits served by Danielle. George stated. “I might have an extra condition to our sale. Danielle must come with me to Melbourne, her coffee are brilliant.” Danielle blushed.

Fred replied “No chance mate, There is no way Helena and I will ever let the best coffee maker here on the coast go away.” Danielle really blushed again.

George laughed “Ok. Danielle brilliant coffee. Thank you. If you ever want to leave the coast you are welcome in Melbourne.” smiling.

Danielle replied still blushing “Thank you all.” and left the room.

Helena explained “Danielle boyfriend is in Vanuatu, so if we do loose her that would be her direction.”

Ben mentioned “Well down to business now that we have soften you up with our brilliant coffee maker. Here is a contract for the sale of the business. We just need a few details. Like when do you wish to hand over and is there anything you wish or need us to be aware of?”

He handed over the copies of the simple contracts.

Stefano looked at the one page contract. “Wow you make things simple and no chance of any ambiguity. I like it. Uncle George, this is acceptable to sign and just state your finishing date please.”

George signed the contract. Helena made out the cheque for $2m. In favour of George.

“Well Betty, welcome to GCVA. Lisa here will be your Manager and main contact. From next week we will have at least 150 plus deliveries to Melbourne from Vanuatu. I have asked Richard to be the main contact for you for the next few weeks. Accounts are run from here, Danielle being one of the contacts. Lisa would you like to take Betty and introduce her around please?”

Lisa replied “Betty come on and I introduce you around.” and they left the room.

Helena asked George “Her story please?”

George replied “She is around 40 and has a grown child, Divorced and basically runs the office for me whilst I am flying around with my other pilot Stewart. I am glad you asked her to stay on. I was worried for her. Her salary is $39pa.”

Ben replied “I have a new employment contract for her to sign after she has met the staff.”

Helena replied “As she will be the local manager and our eyes down south. Put her salary around our office managers and below Lisa please Ben. George we will be increasing her pay to match ours here. Any reason not to?”

George replied “Not that I am aware.”

Ben asked “Next question George, could you step outside with me for a minute please?”

They left the room. Helena explained to Maria and Stefano. “As Ben’s next question might involve you guys, I want him to speak to Ben privately.”

They returned within five minutes with additional paperwork.

George stated “Helena, Fred, Ben, I thank you for your attention to detail. Maria I’m letting you know you will be the beneficiary of my will. Ben will be the executor. That is why they asked me to leave the room. So I could make the will decision without any pressure.”

Maria with tears in her eyes stated “I hope it will be a long time before I receive it Uncle George.”

George replied “So do I my niece.”

Joe mentioned “Well George, when do you plan to return to Melbourne?”

George replied “Helena offered us a weekend here on the coast so I was planning Sunday evening.”

Joe replied “Good, We have rooms book, at no cost to you all, at our pilot accommodation locally and if you wish to have a drive around there are some cars to use. Just see the unit managers for the key. I would like to have your plane checked and serviced by our Engineer so If you don’t mind I send you back with one of our planes. I would appreciate your comments on the plane when you get back to Victoria please.”

George looked surprised “Yes Sure, there is another plane as well.”
