Chapter 90: Homeward bound

On Monday Helena called William and asked, as Suzanne was here, for a board meeting just to formalise things. William agreed and arranged for a 2.30pm meeting time.

Claire picked up Helena, Fred and Suzanne. Zac being relieved with giving Helena the news decided to rest by the pool.

They arrived at VatAirCo just before 2.30 and were warmly greeted by the staff. William, Engineer and Paul were already in the board room. Helena took the position as chair with both Suzanne and Claire note taking. Helena asked Paul for an update.

Paul advised “All commercial and recreation flights running around 70 to 75 %. They are looking for some new pilots and have started to do training, due to lack of supply. Only 2-10 seaters were returned to Australia as they had more business for the smaller planes. They actually sent 6 25 seater planes to Aust in lieu of four. The government has book more flights with us as well. They approached us for flights, we have not promoted any. The computer programs are coming along very well with testing and dual running in all areas. Dad has finally seen the light with some computer instant information. The management program is a blessing with an immediate follow up every morning.” Smiling.

William said “Yes, Ok son, Yes Helena I did see the way the computer has improved information flow. I do like the management program as I have an oversight in the business transacted and if anything was not responded to. On the cargo side, we are getting busier and are now flying out to more Islands and other island countries. I feel we will need to get some further help in the customs area like you managed to arrange in Australia. Some other smaller islands want us to fly items to them. I just wondering if I can pinch Bill for a week or so to overview our operations. He had done a wonderful job in Aust. I am using Paul’s planes to take cargo where we have overlaps. Financially we are sound. Now the money is in the accounts we are paying all of the accounts and getting all monies paid on time. I will start sending you monthly accounts for your information Helena.

Helena replied “Send them to Fred please, he does need some work to do.”

Every one laughed Fred smiled. “Yes William send them on to me please.”

Helena asked Claire “Any items we should know about?”

Claire replied “No but I am keeping an eye on some international laws so we do not contravene them in the cargo delivery. I would suggest we have a policy where all pilots and cabin staff must have passports as we do not want to cancel any flights with passport issues.”

Fred replied “Good thinking.”

William replied “Paul and I will get onto that tomorrow. Good idea.”

Helena asked for any other business. As there were none. She asked “Paul when can you return us to Australia this week please?”
