On Friday both Suzanne and Zac came over on the morning flight. They had booked a suite with instructions Helena and Fred were not to be told. They met them at lunch time in the restaurant. Helena was most pleased to see Suzanne. Zac was quiet. Going up to Helena room after lunch Zac asked Fred for a quiet word. They went back down stairs to the bar area.
Fred asked “Whats troubling mate?”
Zac showed Fred his valuation of the title deeds he sent over. Zac had commissioned a valuer to value 14 properties and they came over Zac’s valuation, some as much as 20%. He said “Basically mate Helena owns some excellent value homes, units complexes, high rises etc that are rented out to a lot of senior public servants who move from area to area. I’m talking about ambulances, police, fire, staff, senior public servants, senior defence force homes, embassy staff etc. I’m trying to quietly find out who manages them. Hopefully I will have a reply when we fly back. Mate I’m talking about at least $10 to $12 billion. This is why we came over, I have not told Suzanne. When do you want to break the news?”
Tina came over and asked Fred “I’m taking some coffee to Mrs Helena would you like some?”
Fred replied “Tina, this is Zac, Suzanne husband and my best mate. Could you take 2 coffee for us upstairs and make sure Helen has three available please. Suzanne is there with Helen she will have a coffee as well.”
Tina looked at Fred “Yes OK, are you going up now?”
Fred replied “No. Take the coffee up please then come and see me please. We will go up when Helena has her coffee please.”
Tina looked surprised and went to make the coffee. In some 7 minutes Tina returned saying “The ladies are waiting for you? They have their coffee’s Fred.”
Fred looked at Zac “Thanks Tina, Better now than waiting Zac.” They left Tina looking puzzled. They returned to 12th Floor. On entering the girls could see the men were worried. Helena asked “Zac you are quiet, Hubby anything wrong?”
They sat down next to Helena on the lounge. Zac said “We have come here to pass on some information Fred asked me to find out.” Helena now looked worried.
Fred stated “I asked Zac to get a quick valuation of the property deeds from Monday bank visit.”
Suzanne “So that’s why Zac you have been quiet and asked to come here?”
Helena asked “How much Zac?” realising it involved the value of the property deeds.
Zac replied “An estimate of $11 billion plus Helena. I felt we had to deliver the news personally.”
Helena looked shocked. Suzanne and Fred immediately held her. After a minute of reflection, Helena replied “Zac, I do truly thank you for your personal delivery of the news. You are truly a good friend making the time to deliver this news. Thank you.” Zac felt better now.
Fred passed her another full coffee cup stating “Now I understand why you drink so much coffee. It helps you to think things through.” Smiling.
Helena looked at Fred took a sip of coffee, smiling “Thank you Fred for the distraction.” She could see he was trying to make her feel better.
