Chapter 61: Fred's Surprise

Helena and Fred woke around 6am. They went downstairs for breakfast. The coffee shop was pleased they were back. Around 8am they went to the supermarket to get some supplies and fruit for home. At 10am there was a knock on the door. Fred recognised the designer for unit 4. “The unit is ready for final inspection and hand over. Would you like to inspect it now.” He advised.

Helena smiled. Fred responded “Yes please.”

He took them into the unit and handed over the key. You would not credit the unit from 8 weeks ago. It was as Fred described a magical place.

Helena rang Suzanne. “Is Zac out of bed yet?”

Suzanne laughed “He has a message to call into his office and we were just leaving, Why?”

Helena asked “Come by my place, Unit 4 is ready and it looks brilliant. How long will you be?”

Suzanne replied “About 30 minutes depends on traffic.”

Helena replied “See you then, you will be amazed.”

Helena asked the designer “Any outstanding fees?”

He replied “Yes about $20,000. Zac paid all of the accounts and part of my payment before you left on your honeymoon.”

Helena asked “Take Fred and show him everything please I’ll be back in 5 minutes” She departed for room 2. Collecting an envelope of $50,000 in cash, she returned to room 4. Handing over the envelope Helena stated “This is the balance of your monies and a small tip for your excellent work. Thank you for waiting for our return.”

Without checking the contents he placed the envelope in his work bag. “Thank you have a great time in this unit and if there are any problems at all, please call me.” He left knowing there was more that $20,000 in the envelope.

25 minutes later Suzanne and Zac arrived. They were taken away with the unit. Suzanne stated, “I wonder if he does landscaping and other buildings. The four plans so far presented do not look good for my home.”

Helena replied “Ask him. I did pay out the balance of $20,000 together with a small tip.”

Fred finally spoke, “This room is amazing, If I was not living next door this is where I would like to be.”

Helena looked at Zac “Please do the honours Zac.”

Zac smiled. “Fred, me best mate. How would you like this room to be your new office? Helena planned this to be your office and visitor sleeping. I was aware of the purpose, however my dear wife was not aware. We both had fun in the decision making because we knew the purpose. However you two did not. That’s made an interesting time. So mate Yes or No?”

Fred walked quickly to Helena picked her up and kissed her “Yes I do love it. Thank you. Yes Zac I will love to use this as an office.” Shaking Zac hand. Suzanne just smiled and got a big hug.

“Zac I am going to offer you the chance to use this as an office as well. With your work in doing property inspections, we can always have the confidential information here. Fred does need some help with some of the work he is involved with, so will you like to work with Fred as well?”

Both men look at each other and smiled they replied in tandem “Yes please.”

Zac then mentioned “I have to go to my office, my temp girl mentioned I have a funny call to attend to. Are you ready Suzanne?” They left to go to Zac’s office.

Helena mentioned. “Zac knows about this room and ours, not room 2 and 3. You can move your computer and books to this room but keep everything else as is please.”

Fred replied “No problem my darling wife. Now with Zac’s help and he is working with us, we can complete the costs and maps.” They locked the room and went downstairs for morning coffee’s.

They waved to Zac and Suzanne when they passed the shop and went into the building. They were in there for about 15 minutes. On the way out Zac and Suzanne joined them.

Zac advised “I have just had another listing in this building. Two units on floor 2101 and 2104 directly under yours. Are you interested?”

Fred asked “Why you?”

Zac replied “They found out about me selling the unit above to you and getting rid of that nasty Jewish woman. They do not want any publicity or a heap of people marching through the units. They are very nice. And have the same outlook as your two units.”

Helena looked at Suzanne “Would you like to buy them for yourself?”

Suzanne though back ‘Never thought of that.’ then spoke loudly. “Zac would you like to live here and Surfers, then you do not have to rent down here?”

Zac looked surprised “It would be good buy, they are looking for $800,000 each.”

Suzanne replied “If that is a fair value then funds are not a problem?”
