Chapter 58: Leper Letter

Helena woke up at 6am and gently made love to her sleepy husband. Arriving at the Air cargo office at 8.30am, everything was in full swing. All the staff greeted them with smiles and the feeling was one of enjoyment. They called into William office. He had taken over the CEO office and left his son to run the passenger side. William advised “Engineer was happy being busy with the new planes. He has already got three out and was servicing them. Now that the word was out, the company is remaining in the Islands hands and William was at the helm, work was flowing in. He had already talked with accounting and reinstated some authority to pay or arrange electronic payments. No one in the office were aware of the planes in the 3^rd shed and the staff all greeted him with smiles. I feel that the takeover will be smooth. I will need some funds for spares, but otherwise, Unless something major crops up, you four can continue your honeymoons.”

Helena smiled “OK we will, but call me in need, or come over for dinner.”

The four left the office and returned to the hotel in time for morning tea.

As they were sitting around the pool Zac mentioned “If I had not been a part of that takeover I would have not believed it.”

Fred replied “Same here Zac, These Island people really look like they were enjoying being at work”

Xena came over with some cappuccino’s and answered Fred “We on the Island enjoy working, there is no help if you are not working like in your country. If you are not working you live on coconuts and fish. The talk around town this morning was relief Mr William was in charge and would make the business great again.” With that statement she left them.

Suzanne and Helena looked at each other and mentally said ‘Thanks Harry.’

They enjoyed their morning coffees and cakes. The next seven days seemed to just drift pass.

On Thursday a letter arrived for Helena. It was from Ben with the signed letter from the church and medical group agreeing to set up the clinic at the leper island. Helena asked Claire and Xena to meet her for morning tea together with Tony.

Helena asked Claire how the funding for the colony is going. Claire looked at Tony. Helena said “Tony I asked these girls to set up a trust fund to help the leper’s. They have some money to pay to the government when they can organise the W.H.O., to send doctors to start treatment. The disease is treatable but it takes time. They did tell me about the stigma of helping them, and they are doing it under a made up name.”

Claire advised “We still have the money in trust, they will not guarantee the funds will be used for the island only, ‘Let us decide’ is their answer.”

Helena showed them the signed letter from the church and medical group. “I am funding the transport cost and this is the agreement that they will set up some units on the island, they will include a hospital unit, accommodation for doctors and nurses, storage and a medical ward. Can I requested you Tony to help with the government side via Jim. I’ll let you or Jim take the credit, I just want to help them and these girls have the money decision. Will you help please?”

Tony looked at them all. “My brother is on that island, he is medically trained and we do talk often over the internet. He has been requesting some help like this. Yes girls, Helena you have my assistance to do what ever I can to help. Jim will certainly look forward to seeing this letter and knowing we have the funds to help with the medical costs. What can I do for you now Ladies?”
