Chapter 29: Flight Booking

The next morning her phone rang with calls from Janet and Julie. Knowing what the calls were about she let the phone ring out at this stage. She just wanted to finish her breakfast in peace.

Just before lunch there was a knock on Helena door. Looking out all she could see was a bunch of flowers. Opening the door both Julie and Janet we standing behind the flowers. Inviting the ladies in she ask “What is the occasion?”

“What’s the occasion she asks, you know bloody well why!” They both replied together.

Smiling Helena took the flowers and placed then in three vases. “Well I am going to need the usage of your men folk a lot and they both do really love you so this is my way to say thank you. Do the men know yet?”

“No.” Julie replied ‘Today we are taking you to lunch so come on get some clothes on and off we go.”

Helena got into another smarter dress, grabbing her handbag checking for sufficient cash, left with the ladies. The walked down to the French Bistro for a long 3 hour lunch.

Helena let the ladies pay for lunch. She would refund their men at a later date.

Helena walking back with the girls went across the road to the park and sat down at a BBQ table. “Janet, in your experience what is the best way to Vanuatu, Port Vila.” Helena asked.

“Well cheap flights start at $350, but I do not think you would like the cattle planes? Do you Helena?” asked Janet.

“No not really.” she replied

“Well you can charter a private jet from Coolangatta to Port Vila for around $20,000 or $40,000 return. That would take around 4 to 9 people.” Janet answered.

“Now that sound like my style. I have to go to Vanuatu with Ben for some legal paperwork in connection with my inheritance. I’ll like to take Bill to drive us around if he has an international licence. We would be away for about 5-6 days. Is that OK with you ladies?” Helena asked.

Janet and Julie looked at each other saying in a sad voice “Yes that’s OK.”

Helena picked up her phone and called Suzanne “Would you like to visit Port Vila next week, with the boys. I have some legal work to attend?”

Janet and Julie could hear Suzanne jumping up and down saying “Yes I would love to, when are we going?”

“Sunday morning returning sometime Friday, depends when Janet can get the bookings. I have a hotel over there to stay in.” Advised Helena.

“Yes I’m in for it please.” Suzanne replied. Helena hung up the phone.

“Well that’s four seats taken, you said four to eight seats is that correct Janet?” asked Helena teasing the girls.

“Yes that’s correct.” Janet replied.

“Good would you two like to join your men folk over there?” Helena laughed.

“Yes please.” they squealed together. Then looking at Helena they realised she was going to invite them all along. They gave Helena a big hug.

“OK Janet organise for 8 seats, there could be two more. Not sure yet. I have a hotel over there I have to contact and let them know when I am coming and how many room I might need. I know the rooms will be four. Let’s say we leave around 10am Sunday with pickup around 10am Friday, Could you organise and get your men free please.” Requested Helena.

“Not a problem.” Replied Janet.

“I check on Bill’s licence and organise in need. And yes I can free up any booking that week.” Replied Julie.

“Well thank you for a lovely lunch, let’s leave the men in the dark about my gift to you for the time being please. But you will need to tell them about the flight and semi holiday. Is that OK?” Asked Helena.

“Yes we can do that. Neither Ben or Bill take much interest in the family accounts, that’s our role.” They replied.

Helena left the girls at the table and returned to her unit to ring her Vanuatu Hotel. Helena found the number, rang and explained that she was coming on Sunday and would need four rooms. They accepted the booking. Looking forward to seeing her again, It has been a while. They asked for her flight details. Helena did not know the full details but would get the travel agent to send them details. Helena then rang Janet asking her to send the flight details to the Hotel, giving Janet the hotel phone number.

That night Fred rang and advised his side of the investigation was concluding and all he has to do now is the paper work that would take a day. He knows that the force is not clean but at least 35 bent police officers are out of the force. What is best bit of news is, the press is unaware of any of it.

The Gold Coast Sargent that help him on the beach has been promoted to Inspector at Palm Beach. His own Inspector at Coolangatta has been made Superintendent at Broadbeach and he has a choice of jobs. He would like to discuss them with her on Wednesday evening if she is free. Helena agreed.

Lying on her bed, Helena mentioned to Harry ‘Is this the right time to mention to Fred about what I am doing? Will he accept the way thing are today and not what happened in the past? Will he like being my escort and lover? I do really love him and find he is my soul mate. Is he prepared to leave the police force? What can you assist me with please?’

Harry did not answer for a few minutes.

Helena just waited. It was not easy to answer her questions. Even from someone who has thousands of years experience.

Harry then mentioned slowly ‘He likes to organise but not necessary be the boss.

He does really love you and thinks you are his soul mate as well.

The one question I cannot answer or find an answer to is will he accept pass injustices and allow the positive outcomes to outweigh the historical method of starting.

You are in the clear, Its Mrs Romano history that is in question. As she is dead and no other relatives are alive. He cannot arrest anyone but could say proceeds of crime, however Mrs Romano did not mention how the funds were given to her husband and there are no written records from 30 to 60 years ago.

You will need to address this question to Fred. I will not interfere or push a decision either way. It has to be up to him.’

He did not answer the career in the police force question and Helena did not notice.

Helena slowly drifted off to sleep worried about losing Fred. She tossed and turned all night.

The next morning after breakfast Helena grabbed two large cappuccino’s and walked into Ben’s office. Working in the office as Suzanne. “Hello, what are you doing here?”

Suzanne replied “Getting my legal hours up to complete my degree. I am registering a company for a land purchase in Tweed Heads South. Zac really screwed down the price and got a low commission payment as well.”

Just then Ben came out of his office, Helena handed over his cappuccino, Saying “Suzanne this is one of Helena’s purchases, I did not mention that earlier to you, as I wanted to see your work standard first. However I am very pleased with your high standard. What can I do for you Miss Helena?” Leaving Suzanne to continue with her work Helena entered Ben’s office closing the door.

“Whats up?” He asked.

“Has Janet told you about next week yet?” Helena asked.

“Yes” he replied.

“Good, I had a feeling that we, just you and me, we need some safe words to communicate indirectly between us. Part of the trip is to check out what I have to do/claim/sign over there and knowing the way Mrs Romano was quite secretive about her business, I have a feeling we will be separated. We might have to communicate through third parties. I will possibility give instruction to you through them so I was thinking of saying Tell Ben I said it’s ‘OK’, would mean be careful. If I send the message saying Tell Ben it’s ‘Acceptable’ then everything can proceed. Do you understand where I am coming from?” Queried Helena.
