Chapter 21: The Neighbour

The next day Helena was re-reading the books when about 10am there was a loud angry knock on her door. Helena went to the door and saw a large woman about 165cm, with grey hair and an angry look in her face.

“Can I speak to your Mother now girl?” she demanded.

“No.” replied Helena in a soft child like voice.

Shouting she demanded “I want to see her now, immediately, out of the way so I can enter.”

“No.” Helena replied softly standing her ground.

“WHY WON’T SHE COME TO THE DOOR NOW?” It demanded again

Harry butted in to Helena saying ‘My, my, my, this is one nasty piece of female and has tried to make Mrs Romano life hell. Touch her and I’m going to make her ending in great pain.’

Helena replied softly, “My mother and father died nearly 5 years ago in a major motor accident caused by a drunk Jewish rabbi. He still lives and says my parents caused it, yet he was clearly on the wrong side of the road.” Breaking into crocodile tears.

Harry smiling stated ‘That good Helena.’

She reached out to Helena trying to give a hug but Helena stepped back holding her hand which was covered in gold rings. Harry mentioned ‘Thanks.’

“Well who is the owner of this unit now the old wog has gone?”

“I am the new owner and I’m Mrs Romano sole beneficiary of her will. She was such a kind Auntie to me, after the jew killed my parents.”

“Do you mind, I am Jewish and Proud of it.” she replied.

“Well Mrs Romano was not a wog either but an Australian, born and raised here so please apologise for your remark.”

“No.” she snapped “Looks like you and I will not get along. When I can contact the owners of units 2 and 3, I’ll ask them to make your life hell as well.”

Helena smiled inside.

“If you want to sell your unit I have a very close girlfriend, who could pay cash, for your unit if you wish?” catty remarked Helena.

“Well my unit would cost her $1 million dollars at least.”

“Sold.” Helena replied “She just won a few million on lotto two weeks ago.”

“She would buy my place for one million dollars cash!” she said.

“Yes, when would you like settlement?” asked Helena.

“How long would it take her to get 1 million dollars in cash?” she replied

“24 hours, I get her here later today with an estate agent and solicitor to sign, is that OK?” mentioning Helena.

“Yes lets say 1.30pm on the dot.” she replied turning around walking towards her unit.

Helena closed her door. Saying Harry ‘Make sure she follows through please?’

‘Yes Mistress!’ mentioned Harry smiling.

Helena rang Suzanne and told her about the run-in with the neighbour and how she has committed her to buy the unit for $1 million. But as you know I have the cash, I just need my “Girlfriend” and I kinda laid it on thick that we are more than friends. Suzanne laughed anything to help you out see you at 1pm.

She then rang Ben and Zac to be at her unit by 1.15 for a 1.30 on the dot appointment, and to bring the necessary paperwork. Helena then went into room 2 and got $36,000 in cash as deposit for the sale, that would also be Zac’s fee.

At 1pm Suzanne arrived making a scene about seeing Helena again, just for her benefit in case she was watching. She gave the $36,000 to Suzanne with the necessary instructions. Helena also updated her on Harry’s comments. They both smiled.

At 1.15 both Ben and Zac arrived clutching a handful of papers. Helena gave an overview of this morning events, without Harry’s remarks, and explained Zac commission is 2% plus, and that would it would be given to him today as deposit. And settlement will be in 24 hours with cash, which she will arrange. Both understanding, they went to unit 4.

Waiting until 1.30 on the dot Helena knocked on the door. She ripped the door open and was amazed at the number of people standing there. Inside the unit was her solicitor. They sat around the tacky dining table. Helena then introduced Suzanne ‘her girlfriend’ Ben and Zac. She did not introduce anyone.

Zac started by saying “Is it correct that you are going to sell this unit to Miss Suzanne Andrews for the sum of $1,000,000 plus my commission of 2%?”

Jumping on the line that his commission would be on top quickly she said “Yes that’s correct. I get $1,000,000. She” pointing at Suzanne “pays your commission.”

He produced the paperwork and request she signs the simple contract.
She handed it to her solicitor who mentions “That there is no provision for a 10% deposit only his commission is the deposit.”

Ben stepped in and says “With a 24 hour settlement is that really necessary?”

“No I was not aware of the short settlement. You can sign where indicated.” He directed.

She signed the contract then Zac asked for her details and I.D. The Solicitor completed the information. Suzanne signed and handed over the $36,000 in cash to Zac.

Helena mentioned “As it is actual cash being used, can we hold the settlement here and then you can leave the unit with the cash and give Suzanne the keys. Is that fine with everyone.” “Yes.” was the joint reply.
“OK same time tomorrow 1.30pm.” Stated Helena.

Looking around the unit from their seated position they found the furnishing in very poor condition compared to Helena place.

Suzanne asked her, they still did not know her name, “Are you taking the furniture with you?.

“No I shall be leaving that here for you, I will just take my clothes and some pictures.” in a grumpy voice.

The men shook hands and Helena’s team returned to her unit.

Both men commented together, when Helena’s door was closed “What a Bitch!”

Ben said “What about the money?”

Helena replied “I will have that here tomorrow morning. Possibility in 20, 50, and 100’s.”

Helena saw a way of getting rid of a lot of $20 and $50 notes.

The men returned to their offices after agreeing to meet at 1pm tomorrow.
