Chapter 12: The Brunch

Rising at 8am Helena had a long hot shower, still amazed at last night telephone call. Dry herself, she rang Suzanne asking if she is interested in Brunch at Pac Fair. saying “I’ll pick you up at 9.15 around the corner, from where the taxi dropped you off the other day. You will easily recognise the white car.”

“OK.” replied Suzanne.

Ringing Bill she asked “Can you pick me up this morning, be at Nobby Beach shops just before 9.15 and deliver her to Pac Fair this morning, in the limo please?

“No problems as I have an airport delivery from Broadbeach at 10am” replied Bill. “I see you around 8.50am.”

Making sure she had plenty of money in her purse, She was looking forward to delivering the news to Suzanne and getting a new dress and shoes for the occasion. Leaving her unit Bill was pulling up outside. He quickly jumped out of the limo and opened the door.

Smiling Helena entered the limo. On arriving at Nobby beach shops, Helena saw Suzanne awaiting outside of the bakery. Directing Bill, Suzanne was amazed at the white Limo and when the driver got out, opened the door and quietly called her name. Suzanne looked in shock. Walking over to the limo and seeing Helena in the back, quickly entered the vehicle.

“Wow you drive in style!” remarked Suzanne.

Helena replied “Bill was my driver to Brisbane earlier this week and he did an excellent job.”

Bill opened the window to the back and requested if the ladies are ready to depart. Bill can certainly act the part in showing off. Smiling Helena said “Yes chauffeur. Please proceed and can you leave the window open for a minute. Bill drove to the lights then entered the Bus-Taxi lane along the Gold Coast Highway. Helena asked Bill if he is available on Friday Week please.

Bill replied “I do not think so as we got a booking last night to drive to Brisbane.”

Helena smiled “OK.”

Within 10 minutes they were at Pac Fair. Limo’s, have a special parking area and a private lift to the main shops. Helena requested Bill to be available to drive them home around 4pm please. Bill agreed and mentioned lets fix up the fare later.

The girls entered the lift and got out in the food court. Collecting some food and coffees, proceeded to the centre of the seating area, Siting down Suzanne said “Spill the beans, you are hopping around worse than a kangaroo.”

Helena looking around seeing the place was very quite said “I need your help in getting a very nice smart casual dress, shoes, underwear for a special occasion week Friday.”

“OK, why?” quizzed Suzanne.

Smiling and saying quietly “I had a telephone call at 9pm last night.”

“Yes?” interrupted Suzanne.

Smiling very broadly “The caller told me I have won $40 million dollars in last night draw!”

“WHAT.” Suzanne said loudly, then placed a hand over her mouth saying “Oops sorry. You are kidding me, ain’t you?”

“No I knew the caller from the lotto office and we confirmed details. I have not told anyone except you and Bill will find out when he gets the full booking details for Friday week. Will you come up with me on the Friday please?” requested Helena.

“Of course I will, anything to help you out after you help me. I had some anxiety problems yesterday morning but Harry really help me out. He is very kind.” Suzanne reach over the table and gave Helena a hug congratulating her.

“Good I buy you a dress as well,” Smiled Helena. “OK lets eat and get to those shops.”

Helena and Suzanne went from shop to shop collecting their necessary items. At 12.30pm Helena rang Bill “Are you free?”

Bill replied “Yes don’t tell me you have finished shopping. I have just dropped my last job over at Broadbeach.”

Helena laughed “No, we need someone to hold our bags, I book you for the rest of the afternoon, if you can be here in 15 minutes to collect and guard our shopping!”
Bill said “I’ll meet you where I dropped you off in 5 minutes.”

The girls went down the lift and found Bill already parked. On seeing the girls he got out of the limo and opened the boot saying “I hope this is large enough?” smiling.

Another lady exited the limo from the passenger side and walked to the back. Bill introduced his wife Julie to them. Shaking hands they found Julie was very much a good person really in love with Bill.

“Bill said “We were on our way here for lunch.”

“OK, Join us for lunch at the Cherry Beans please, Bill and Julie.” replied Helena.

They finished eating around 1.30pm with Bill feeling left out. The 3 girls just seemed to chat about fashion, shoes and other women gossip. Just before leaving Helena again asked if Bill was free for Friday week. Julie said “No. He has a booking, from the lotto office, to pick up an H. Zee-Smith from Tugun, but I am free and can drive you around in need. We do have two limo’s one smaller than the stretched one.”
