CAST and PLACES

Included here are all named characters in Beth to date (there will be more; current as of Chapter 221, although the 2018 premier-team roster is included). Feel free to message me if I have missed any. I am quite happy to correct errors, either of commission or omission. Ages – if provided – are known precisely or are Beth’s estimations as of the story’s inception in April/May 2017; birth dates are provided for some (after age), except that ages in team rosters are as of the season’s start. I lead with what we might consider Beth’s nuclear family, although “nuclear” in this case is a fair bit more expansive than the adjective usually indicates in such situations. To restrict knowledge of the future of characters to new readers, the cast list treats most as of their arrival in the narrative.

WILLIAMS CLAN

Sandra (Sandy) Williams (40; Mar 21) – The matriarch of the clan, the legal wife of Charlie, and the genetic mother of Beth; despite the protagonist being Beth, Sandy is the primary driver of much of the early part of the story arc, either behind the scenes or directly, due to her interesting take on appropriate family relationships

Charles (Charlie) Williams (39; Dec 5) – Legal husband of Sandy, genetic father of Beth; Charlie provides something of a moderating influence on Sandy’s enthusiasms, despite his otherwise earnest interest in most of those enthusiasms; mathematics professor at the university

Beth Williams (13; May 4) – Genetic daughter of Sandy and Charlie and protagonist of the story, which is written from her POV; she initiates an electronic diary (which is the story) as a result of both her intended alteration of the relationship with her best friend, Rhiannon, and catching Sandy at doing something wrong; recognized leader of the gang of various names (GoX; which see)

Carol Devlin (35; Nov 7) – Divorced genetic mother of Rhiannon, sister-wife to Sandy, semi-common-law wife to Charlie

Rhiannon (Rhee) Devlin (13; May 17) – Genetic daughter of Carol, best friend of Beth Williams (and vice-versa) since meeting on their first day of soccer practice when 9; member of the gang

GoX (Gang of x, e.g., Go4, Go5) – a group of an increasing number of, mostly, girls that is the centerpiece of the story.

Las Amadas (LA) – The successor group name for those in the GoX

LTG – Lunch-table gang, a group that eats lunch together at Central High, most or all of which are also members of the GoX, LA
