The difference between having the Power and not having the Power came down to knowing when your being messed with. If I concentrated a thought, or command at someone with the Power he or she would know right off that me or someone else was messing with them. It would set off all kinds of internal alarms in their heads. On the other hand a person without any Power would not consciously feel anything, but be compelled to do what I was thinking at them. They would shortly think up some reason to follow the instruction I was sending. I couldn’t order them, but I could influence them. Yes, Elsa was right I was the weakest of the group.

The more you studied it and thought about what you wanted the subject to do, to feel, to think, or act, the easier it became to get that response from the subject. We subtly bent the subject’s mind to do what we wanted them to do. I doubt any of us could actually order one of our subjects, the normals, to do anything they didn’t really want to do.

It was much the same way with the psychic surgery. We went to the Internet and looked up detailed drawings of the human brain and then studied each others heads and brains with the feel of our hands. In the end it came down to, after much concentration, sensing a wrongness deep within the mass of tissue that was the brain and fixing it. Willing it really to heal itself.
