“I can’t believe it!” She exclaimed.
I felt her starting to cry again and I put my arms around her.
“I had hoped, and thought out what if when I found out you were my primary, but I never actually expected you to remember.” She cried.
“Tessa, sweetie.” I said, trying to remember.
What you read in the past few chapters, were jumbled and blurred for me. Even though I recognized her, and felt the same way I had in the cave, I didn’t remember a lot of the interactions besides us being together. There was more, but I couldn’t remember.
“What happened?” I asked. “I remember us being in the cave, getting dressed, then it’s a blur. Too jumbled up to remember.”
She pulled back.
“The overseer erased your memory before sending you to another address she had figured out.” Tessa said before wiping away her tears. “She couldn’t get the exact time from your memories, so she had to erase in an odd pattern.” She explained. “After, though I was able to work, the mental problems started. My emotions couldn’t be kept in check by even the supplements. The overseer decided I should be sent back, after having my mind wiped of historical events.” She explained. “I’ve been here for a few years now.”
“A few years?” I asked a bit surprised.
I quickly turned to Luci.
“Get the board back in here fast to approve another addition to the pod.” I said quickly.
He gave me a nod and rushed out the door as I returned my attention to Tessa.
“You want me in the pod?” She asked a bit shocked.
“In a heartbeat.” I said.
“Even though I never...” She said.
“Yes, of course.” I said.
“Damn. Tessa too?” Naki said. “Wait, when you turned me down, saying there was a single guy you’d say yes to, it was our future boss?”
“Yeah.” Tessa said. “This is him.” She said before letting me go.
I let her talk to him while the other girls just looked on, wide eyed.
“Holy shit dude.” Naki said. “Well, Tessa, You know how I’ve felt, and I hope we can continue to work together and stay friends.”
“Don’t worry rookie, there are still plenty of ladies for you to fall in love with on the island.” Tessa said.
“Rookie?” Mari asked.
“Tessa has experience in the law enforcement field.” I pointed out.
“Dammit, what was so important that you needed one of us back here?” Trevor asked.
“We have another verbal petition.” I pointed out.
“Oh? Who this time?” He asked.
“That’d be me.” Tessa said.
“And you are?” he asked.
“Tessa Wright, no pod.” She said.
“Ah yes, Miss Wright.” Trevor said. “I remember your application to take residence on the island. Odd circumstances. But last I remembered, you were looking to be in the security sector.”
