Chapter 12

Tanya had made sure to get Will headed to his home by 8pm and spent the rest of the evening doing her homework for the weekend. For some reason, she felt very clearheaded and was able to finish up all of the homework in about an hour. She had always enjoyed reading, but she finished that much faster than she had expected.

Tanya was looking forward to seeing Shirley on Saturday. She had to admit that she was really curious to see how Shirley would be away from school. They had a couple of classes together the previous year, but other than that, Tanya knew very little about her classmate.

The address was for a condominium, one of the 3 storey ones with a contained central courtyard. For a reason she did not know, that style of building seemed to have been really popular in that part of the city. There were a number of those built in that area.

She did know that Shirley lived with her mother, but not her father. But not much beyond that. Tanya hoped that they would have some space to just hangout. She was determined to become friends with Shirley. It just seemed rude not to be after what had happened.

In the morning, her mother was still sleeping when Tanya was ready to head out. Her father was happy to drop her off. She had made sure to write the address and phone number for Shirley’s home on the whiteboard in the kitchen. Her parents had started that requirement when Tanya’s older sister had first started going over to visit at a friend’s place years ago.

When Tanya had first started to write out the information on the board, she suddenly thought of her sister and wondered what she was going to say to her. Tanya had not thought about how Regina would react. Tanya looked up to her sister and was a little anxious about what she would think. She made herself ignore that for now, something else she would need to talk about with her mother for sure.

Tanya waved goodbye to her father when Shirley had opened the main door for her to come in. Tanya had identified Shirley as the person she was there to see with the security guard in the external office, and they had phoned her to let them know Tanya had arrived.

Shirley came down to meet her at the door, and show her how to get to the condo. Their place was on the top floor, there was no elevator, but the condo was accessible from a stairway within the courtyard.

“I am so happy that you were able to come over today.” Shirley said as they were hugging.

Walking into the inner courtyard, Tanya was surprised to see that it had been arranged into a green space, with coconut palms used to provide the shade. There were a number of benches and chairs setup in the shade for the residents she guessed.

“My mom is home, and knows you are coming over. She wants to meet you, but has said she will be in and out of the condo throughout the day. So we will have the place to ourselves for the most part.” Shirley was smiling widely as she chatted.

The condo that Shielry lived in with erh mother was on the third floor, on the corner. The condos were only a single floor, but each occupied half of the floor along it’s side, so only 2 per floor per side.

Cheryl Douglas, Shirley’s mother, seemed happy to meet Tanya. At least that is the feeling that Tanya got ... along with a mild surge of interest. Tanya did notice that Cheryl had given Tanya’s breasts a quick glance when she had first walked in. cheryl made it clear that she was happy to finally meet Shirley’s new friend and that she hoped Tanya would be coming over frequently.

Once inside the room, Tanya was able to relax again, and took a good look around. Shirley was a little shy about dispalying her room, but Tanya managed to get her to relax and before too long, Tanya had learned about the posters of the different women on the walls (all famous authors and entertainers). Shirley showed Tanya her collection of tie-dyed tshirts, which she apparently liked collecting from different festivals that she usually went to with her mother during the Summer months.

Shirley explained that she had gotten interested in the process of how to do tie-dying and had done some of her own. Tanya talked her into showing them and expressed her admiration for how nice they looked, Tanya thought they were very nice.

About half an hour after they had been chatting in her room, Cheryl knocked on the door and opened it to pop her head in and tell Shirley she would be heading out for a bit, shouldn’t be more than a couple hours and asked her to let Nora know if she decided to head out.

“Will you be staying for supper Tanya?” Cheryl asked.

“Um ... sure, if that is alright.” Tanya replied.

“Absolutely! It will be nice to get a chance to get to know you a bit more. Is Thai okay for you?” Cheryl said with a smile.

“Yes, I love spicy food. Thank you.” Tanya confirmed with a grin.

Mmmm! Tanya got a brief sense of pleasure from Cheryl.

“Okay then, we’ll eat out on the balcony Shirley, so please give the table and chairs there a wipe while I am gone. See you two in a bit.” Cheryl closed the door behind her.

Shirley became a bit shy once her mother had left and kept glancing away from Tanya’s eyes when they started chatting again. Tanya noticed that Shirley was squirming a little as well. She would start to point at something in the room and then stop like she had changed her mind.

Tanya was a little confused in the change in Shirley’s behaviour initially. It suddenly dawned on Tanya what was happening. While her mother had been at home, Shirley had been trying to be calm, but now that she knew her mother was gone, it was like she stopped trying to deny her urges.
