Jack looked down the whole length of the alleyway then he looked at Susan’s would-be attackers then he looked at Susan. Susan saw Jack looking at her but Jack quickly put his finger to his lips and Susan quickly looked away just as Jack started moving quietly down the alleyway. The one with the knife lunged at Jack but missed as Jack stepped aside and lifted his big stick for another swing. This time Jack brought his swing down and around and right into the midriff of the knife wielder. It slammed into the boy’s stomach like a two ton baseball bat making him double over in pain.
