Chapter 8: The Car
Erotica Sex Story: Chapter 8: The Car - The form was six pages. She read the word. She did not read the page he kept. Sasha and Cal signed on for a bit called Guess. Blindfold. Three holes in the furniture. Say which one is him. He initialed a second man while she was in makeup. She knows at the clock. She says his name anyway. Red stops it. Neither of them says it. She asks twice before the other man is allowed. He does not get the kiss.

She spent it at the first light.
“I knew at the clock. The shape was wrong. I said your name anyway. You initialed the page while the powder was on. That’s the once. We don’t do it again until the dock.”
Cal’s hand stayed on her knee. The light was red. A real red, not the word. “I nodded. I wanted the guess. I heard you shake your head and I didn’t say it. That’s my once. Dock. Not before.”
“Dock.” She put her head back. The towel under her was the plan. The hold was thinning and not failing. His jacket smelled like the pen. The cheaper soap was a ghost on her stomach. Mark was a side gate she had not watched. The sentence was done. She did not add a speech. Adding would have been a second time.
The light went green. He drove. Ordinary street. No clock. She clenched at a bump and the clench held. “Still,” she said. “Barely. Don’t get proud.”
“I’m not.” He did not move his hand up. The not-move was the manners from the rug, surviving a car. She allowed it. At the next light she said, “Still. Face out. My ask. You don’t offer.”
He unlocked the phone with his knee-hand staying put and gave it to her. She took the picture. Collarbone down. Jacket open. Dress not closed. The shine on her thigh where the thread had escaped. No face. She looked at it until the looking was a pulse, then locked the screen and put it in his pocket.
“Yours. Not his. Not the site. Thank you for not offering.”
“Dock,” he said. “If you want it deleted, you say so there. Not in a text.”
“I won’t text.” She shut her eyes. The hold shifted. She did not wipe. The lake was a picture she still had not asked to see. The lie was spent. The still was his. The road took the rest.
The first mile was the sentence and then not the sentence. She had promised once. Once was a light. After the light the car was a car. His hand on her knee was warm. The towel was damp at the edge and she hated that she knew the edge. A plan. He had put it down in the afternoon for a reason he had not named. The reason had a page. The page had a man. The man had a side gate. She did not open any of those again. Opening was a second time.
Streetlights striped her thighs. The jacket fell open when she shifted. She let it. Face was out of the picture already. The picture was in his pocket, a weight if she thought about it. She thought about it. Collarbone. Shine. No mouth. The mouth had been spent on him in a front room. Mark had watched the spending. She had thanked Mark for watching and then taken the thank-you back by not giving him a goodnight. Fair. Mean. Exact. She clenched. The bump had been a test. The test had passed. Barely.
“Hungry,” she said, because a body was also a body. “Not a stop. I can wait for the lake. If I can’t, I’ll say. Don’t choose a diner. A diner is a tell.”
“No diner.” He flicked the indicator. The click was not a clock. She was grateful and did not say so. Gratitude turned into speeches. Speeches were dock business. She watched his profile. Ears no longer red. A man who had been named correctly at the end. She put her hand over his. Did not guide it. The not-guiding was the hold, shared, same as the driveway. He understood. The understanding was four years. The page was one night. Both sat in the car. She let them sit.
At the on-ramp the hold threatened. She pressed her thighs and breathed and the threat stayed a threat. “Still,” she said. “Don’t narrate it.”
“I won’t.”
The highway was a dark with exits. She picked one in her head and did not say it. Saying it would have been running the night. The night was run. What was left was a prize and a phone and a towel doing its job. She slept for four minutes and woke to his thumb moving once, a check, not a climb. “Still here,” she said.
“You told me the dock.”
“I’m telling you the car.” Her voice was raw. “The still is enough. Don’t take another. One is the size.”
“One.” He patted the pocket, ridiculous, a ceremony. She almost laughed and did not. Laughs had a rule from a rug. The rule could retire. She did not retire it yet. The cheaper soap ghosted up when the heater came on. She wrinkled her nose. He saw it. He did not offer a wipe. Offering was a fix. She had trained him in a single night and the training annoyed her and worked.
“Lake has a shower,” she said. “I take it when I say. Not when we arrive. If you fuck me before the shower, you ask. Twice. The page doesn’t travel. Red still works. He doesn’t.”
“He doesn’t,” Cal said. “Twice. Shower on your word. I heard.”
The exit she had not named arrived anyway. He took the next one, the one on the directions, a lake road, narrower. Trees. Dark. The towel held. She held. The lie stayed spent. The still stayed in his pocket, face out, hers by ask. She watched the headlights eat the road and did not spend a second sentence. The dock could have the next one. The car had had its once.
