In His endless mercy, Paraxionthelios has allowed us to cede our sins to atoneresses so that our souls may remain pure and our families may remain whole and unshattered by the rightful punishment. But I warn you against any pity or gratitude you may feel towards the atoneresses, as that would border on heresy. It is solely the Paraxionthelios’s mercy, and it’s Him you should thank.

Has the atoneress taken your gold, has she drunk the water in which hands that committed theft, murder or fraud had been washed, SHE is guilty of theft, murder, or fraud. You are never to forget that. You are to always treat her as a thief, murderer or fraud she now IS. You are to despise her and her sin, for you are pure, and she is the sinner.

And she is to forever be grateful for every bit of punishment for HER crimes, because such is the mercy of Paraxionthelios that he has promised she will not die during her punishment, her blood will not spill, and her bones will not break, no matter what she did. That is incomprehensible mercy given to her profession, so she is never to forget she may not even dream of even more mercy. She is to thank for every rightful stroke she receives, every hardship she must endure for her crime. She is to show gratitude to the Justice Priest and any Justice Acolytes who work to provide her with her well-deserved punishment. She is to show gratitude to the good people who watch her punishment or participate in it, had she committed a crime that calls for punishment that requires participation of good people. She is to show gratitude to the city guards who guard honest citizens from the likes of her.

Have you noticed that she has failed to show the appropriate gratitude, you are to report it to the Atoneresses Guild so that she may be punished for that offence. It is your sacred duty not only to the Faith, the guards, and the honest citizens that - even though they may not realise it - were offended by her lack of gratitude. It is also your duty to the filthy atoneress herself; though very few rights she deserves, she still has the right for her behaviour to be corrected should it need correcting. You owe her no respect, no regard and no pity, but you do - even the most noble and important of you do - owe her help in understanding her rightful place and correct ways for her to behave.
