Everyone slept in on Friday, worn out from the excitement of Thursday. Carl and Amelia fell asleep cuddling, waking up in each other’s arms. When they stepped into the kitchen holding hands, they found Marcus already rummaging through the refrigerator.

“We’re out of orange juice,” Marcus grunted without looking up.

“Good morning to you, too,” Carl said with a confidence that would have been beyond him a few days ago.

“I wanted orange juice,” Marcus sighed dramatically.

“I think you’ll survive,” Amelia replied.

“Sounded like a fun night in there, by the way,” Marcus smirked.

“Oh, my God!” Amelia gasped, clapping her hands to her mouth.

“Yes, that,” Marcus nodded.

“You heard from downstairs?” Carl winced.

“Thin walls,” he shrugged, giving Carl a thumbs up. “Nicely done, man!”

“Kill me,” Amelia deadpanned.

Sofia wandered in as well, dressed in pajamas as she rushed for the coffee maker. People slowly made their way into the kitchen, either relaxed or craving caffeine. Owen looked half-asleep, while Mei yawned loudly as she dropped into a chair. There was no itinerary on their last full day. Just the closing ceremony in the evening. The rest of the day was theirs.

Breakfast was bagels, fresh fruit, scrambled eggs, and lots of coffee. The conversation quickly turned to how they wanted to spend their last full day on Labrador Pond. Everyone agreed they didn’t want to waste a single second. The general agreement was to try and get in a mixture of all the fun activities around the lake house: swimming, fishing, kayaking, relaxing.

They took turns showering before getting ready for the day. Carl was relaxing alone in the living room while Amelia showered. Just like the previous day, Sofia found him and sat down with him on the couch. She smiled knowingly, her green eyes sparkling mischievously.

“How’d it go last night, killer?” Sofia asked.

“Alright, I think,” he nodded, blushing slightly. “Demon exorcism and all.”

“That’s my boy!” Sofia crowed happily. “It was a big night for romance.”

“What do you mean?” Carl frowned.

“I woke up at four in the morning feeling thirsty,” she raven-haired beauty explained with a smirk. “Owen and Mei walked in naked.”

“Oh,” he said. “I guess that just leaves you and Marcus?”

“He’s a good friend, but nothing’s happening there,” Sofia shook her head. “Nope. I’m happy having made some great friends.”

“I hope we can stay friends at BU?” Carl asked carefully.

“Of course!” she nodded eagerly. “Shit, I love all you guys. And I feel like I need to thank you.”

“For what?” he wondered. “I should be thanking you.”

“Watching you come out of your shell, I don’t know how to explain it, but I’ve been thinking more about my own life,” Sofia shrugged. “You helped me learn to take time for myself, too.”

“I have no idea how I did that.”

“I don’t really, either,” she giggled. “But, you did. A night of stress relief with Dylan was amazing. Now, onto business. Tonight’s the big night?”

“Yeah, I think so,” Carl let out a breath. “She wants to go out to that clearing we found, beneath the stars.”

“Oh, that’s romantic!” Sofia gushed. “Good, good. Now, you know the basic mechanics, of course. At least, I assume you know where to put it?”

“I know where to put it,” he grumbled, pretending to be annoyed with her teasing.

“The important thing is not to rush or put pressure on yourself,” she explained slowly. “Oh! And communicate. You two are right for each other, so I’m sure you’ll talk about things.”

“We will,” Carl promised.

“It’s okay if either of you changes your mind,” Sofia added. “There will be other opportunities.”

“I know.”

“The act itself; same as when you went down on her. Listen to her and react,” she advised. “Oh, and if you feel like you’re gonna cum too soon, your best option is to pull out.”

“Pull out?” Carl asked.

“Yes,” Sofia nodded. “Finger her for a bit, maybe even eat her out. Trust me, she won’t mind. Make it seem like you’re just doing it for her, while you’re really making sure you don’t finish too soon.”

“Okay,” he nodded.

“Carl,” she continued. “If you do finish too soon, don’t beat yourself up. It happens. You’re also eighteen, it won’t be hard to get you up for another round. Pun intended.”

“You’re sounding like Mei,” Carl laughed lightly, his cheeks red.

“I can make puns, too,” Sofia shrugged.

“Great,” he made a face, earning a laugh. “By the way, I told Amelia we were having these chats.”

“Do you think you’re the only one I’m talking to?” she asked with a raised brow. “You take a shower, too.”

“Oh,” Carl stated. “Yeah, that makes sense.”

“So, you don’t have to worry about a hymen,” Sofia added. “Which is good; it fucking hurt when mine broke during my first time.”

“Uh, I don’t?”

“You did finger her, didn’t you? There wasn’t one,” she said. “Some women are born without one, but Amelia told me hers broke while experimenting.”

“That’s good to know. Thank you for this,” he said sincerely. “You know a lot.”

“Yeah, it’s hard to believe, but there was a time when I was a virgin,” she laughed.

“That’s not what I meant!” Carl insisted quickly.

“I know, I’m teasing,” Sofia kissed his cheek. “You’re gonna be great tonight. And we’re all gonna be friends for a long, long time.”

Friday slipped by effortlessly, the day disappearing with no notice. Without any schedule, the group wandered wherever the day carried them. They explored the entire area and everything Labrador Pond had to offer. There was nowhere they needed to be except together.

The group started out with the kayaks. Amelia and Carl went out in the canoe together, taking a romantic trip around the pond. Carl made sure to show Amelia the area with all the snapping turtles. Then the group met up and took a group trip over to Pine Island. Mei found a rock shaped like a heart that she kept as a souvenir. Owen took a picture of her, which she posed for happily.

“Hey Owen, what does a horny frog say?” Mei asked, hands on her hips.

“I don’t know, what?” Owen questioned.

“Rub it, rub it,” Mei replied in a slow, frog-like voice.

“Well, if you insist,” he grinned, playfully chasing her as she squealed and ran off.

They spent the rest of the morning catching frogs, fishing, relaxing, and skipping rocks. Lunch was sandwiches that were eaten on the large picnic table. Then they spent the afternoon playing board games outside, cornhole, and frisbee. Sometimes they did activities as a group, other times a couple of people would read or just relax and enjoy the atmosphere.

At one point, while everyone was outside, Mei dragged Owen through the backdoor and pressed her lips to his. The two made out for several minutes before Mei dropped to her knees. She quickly extracted his penis, stroking it several times before taking it in her mouth. Mei gave him a quick blowjob, swallowing everything he spurted into her mouth.

“You were right,” Owen whispered.

“About what?” Mei asked while still on her knees.

“That was definitely a dream.”

Mei laughed and briefly flashed him.

Everyone went for a brief hike, exploring the usual trails and dirt roads. Mei leaned against Owen as she made another joke. Carl slipped an arm around Amelia’s waist, and she rested her head against his shoulder. Owen got a few pictures as they moved, while Amelia picked up a leaf to press later.

After nearly a week together, dinner passed in an easy, comfortable way. The conversations drifted from favorite moments of the week to plans for the fall semester. There was some playful teasing of Amelia and Carl, as well as some jokes about Mei and Owen. They may have gotten closer, but Owen still groaned at Mei’s increasingly terrible “last supper” puns.

The sun dipped lower over Labrador Pond as students from the various houses made their way to the pavilion one final time. Five days ago, the pavilion had been filled with strangers introducing themselves. Now it was filled with hugs, laughter, and promises to stay in touch.

Thomas Greene stepped up onto the stage. “Good evening, everyone. I know you all have packing to do, so I will keep this brief.”

Several students groaned.

“I figured,” Thomas laughed. “When we first advertised this contest, we asked the winners to do three things. Unplug, explore, and make memories. I’ve spent the last week watching you do exactly that.”

Thomas gestured toward the lake. “I saw students who had never held a paddle before learn to kayak, I watched friendships and relationships form, and I saw people cheering each other during tough hikes.”

Carl glanced around, noticing everyone was paying attention.

“The Labrador Pond Summer Challenge wasn’t about collecting stamps,” Thomas continued. “It was about experiencing this place together. I hope every stamp in your Challenge Passport reminds you of a moment shared with a friend.”

Thomas looked around the room proudly. “Three schools earned every single stamp this week: The University of Southern Maine, The University of Massachusetts Lowell, and Boston University.

“Before we finish, I have one last request. I’d like everyone to stand and find someone you met this week. Thank them. For a conversation, a laugh, a hike, a memory. Thank them for making your week better.”

Dozens of conversations started all at once. People were hugging, exchanging numbers, and promising to visit each other. Carl’s first instinct was to thank Sofia, but he noticed Amelia had beaten him to it; both girls were hugging each other tightly. Instead he looked to Marcus.

“Thank you for treating me like one of the group,” Carl said.

Marcus smiled and pulled Carl into a manly hug. “Thanks for coming out of your shell, man. Proud of you.”

“Thank you,” Carl replied.

Nearby, Owen and Mei stood awkwardly facing each other. Mei finally rolled her eyes.

“Oh, come here,” she wrapped him in a hug.

“Thank you for the bad puns and dad jokes,” Owen whispered.

“Thanks for making my pussy purr,” Mei giggled, playfully nibbling his earlobe. “Meow!”

Carl turned toward Amelia. Neither of them said anything, they simply stepped into each other’s arms.

“I hope Labrador Pond gave you something worth taking home,” Thomas said. “Not souvenirs. Something better. Have a safe trip home tomorrow and remember that Labrador Pond will always be here.”

The audience applauded as the sun dipped below the treeline, leaving the pavilion bathed in the soft glow of string lights. Slowly, the crowd began to disperse. There was laughter and flirting: Emma from Northeastern left with Dylan from USM, his hand on her butt as he led her toward his place.

Marcus was talking to the two women from the University of Vermont, while Sofia spoke to Ben from the University of New Hampshire. It was eventually suggested that they return to the house. The six from Boston University started the long walk back, accompanied by three new friends they’d made during the week.

A nice fire was lit, and the group of nine sat in chairs all around the firepit. There was laughing, talking, and drinking as darkness descended fully on Labrador Pond. With so many people, there ended up being several conversations as small groups formed. The two ladies from Vermont were happy to chat with Marcus, while Ben was interested in flirting with Sofia.

Carl and Amelia waited for the right moment to slip away, when everyone was engrossed in their own conversations and not paying attention. Leaving the firelight, the young couple disappeared into the darkness. Using his phone, Carl led them into the woods to the small clearing they had found.

The clearing was probably only about a hundred feet across, but it was perfect. Thick trees served to isolate the area, making it seem like Amelia and Carl were alone in the world. Standing in the middle of the clearing, they were able to look straight up at the stars; the beautiful band of the Milky Way stood out easily. It was perfect.

They kept looking at each other and smiling as they set up the area. Carl placed a large blanket down on the ground, making sure there were no rocks beneath it that would make them uncomfortable. Amelia even brought a couple of pillows in a tote bag, showing how prepared she was.
