“Have you taken them into custody?” Claude asked.
“Many of them, but others fled when the Germans left the city. They ran to their country estates. We will leave them to our country cousins to deal with.” Said Jean Marc.
“We have seized the most notable collabs and will make an example of them. We started with the Count and Comtesse duDupar and arrived at their mansion with a dozen armed men this morning. The Count tried to flee through the rear courtyard but was stopped by my men waiting for him. He was cursing us, calling us rabble and said we had no right to touch him. A table and car were brought from inside and this was the judge’s bench. I sat there and his trial began.” He said. “We had brough several witnesses with us to offer evidence. In short order they supplied testimony to the Count’s long dealings with the Gestapo including directing them against his competitors in his various business. He shouted that Counts do not work or have businesses, but we had documents that told a different story, including black market dealings.” Jean Marc said.
“Other witnesses told of relatives who had been arrested by the Gestapo based on information supplied by the Count. The Count threatened all of us with dire consequences but did not offer any evidence in his defense. In short order he was found guilty of treason and sentenced to death.” He explained.
“The brother of one of his victims pulled a pistol from his coat and, without a word, shot the Count in the head. He shot him again as he lay on the ground. The group cried ‘Vive la France’ and ‘Death to all traitors’. We then went into the house to deal with the Comtesse and the daughters.” Jean Marc said.
“We had held a trial for them a few days before, The Comtesse was notorious for holding parties for the German high command in Paris, Only Germans and French collabs were ever invited.
