Rico adjusted the straps of his leather body harness, its snug fit giving him a small sense of security as he stood on the sunlit sidewalk outside The Golden Cheetah. The restaurant’s limestone façade gleamed, the art deco windows casting intricate patterns onto the pavement. His whiskers twitched with anticipation, his sharp eyes fixed on the parking lot waiting for Bartholomew Stoneclaw to arrive for his ritualistic one o’clock lunch.
His fingers brushed against the holo-cube tucked securely in one of the harnesses pockets. The device held the image he needed to pull this off—Vivian Stoneclaw and Moses Lightfur exiting a hotel together, his arm wrapped possessively around her waist. It wasn’t just incriminating; it was explosive. If Bartholomew cared about appearances, this would leave him no choice but to play along.
The sleek black limousine landed in the parking lot. The sound of its expensive engine snapped Rico to attention. Bartholomew Stoneclaw arrived, flanked by his towering bodyguard. The tiger exuded power, his every movement commanding respect. Rico waited until they disappeared into the restaurant before slipping toward the service entrance, his heart pounding.
“You got what I asked for?” Marcus, the raccoon chef, greeted him at the door. The cook’s white apron was smudged with grease, and his eyes darted nervously to the bustling kitchen beyond.
Rico pulled the envelope from his harness and handed it over without a word. Marcus tore it open, his breath hitching as he flipped through the glossy photographs. Rico’s sister, Felicia, caught in moments of drug-filled masturbation lay on their living room sofa, filling each frame.
“Damn,” Marcus muttered, the corner of his mouth twitching upward. “You’re one hell of a brother, Rico. These are — some nice shots here. I’m surprised you haven’t tapped that ass yet, I would have” He cut himself off with a chuckle. “Never mind. Deal’s a deal. Go change in the back. I’ll make sure you get where you need to go.”
The employee room smelled faintly of pastries and daisies, but Rico paid it no mind. He straightened his appearance in the mirror before returning to Marcus, who handed him a small silver tray.
“Private dining room,” Marcus directed, his voice low. “Bartholomew likes his water with three ice cubes and a lemon twist. Keep it clean, and don’t blow your shot.”
The dining room was separated by heavy burgundy curtains, a barrier between the exclusivity of the elite and the rest of the bustling restaurant. Rico entered, balancing the tray, and was met with the sight of the tiger seated at the head of a grand mahogany table. Bartholomew’s gaze didn’t lift from his plate of meat.
The bodyguard stood against the wall, arms crossed, his bear-like bulk impossible to ignore. Rico’s throat tightened, but he forced himself to keep moving. “Mr. Stoneclaw,” he said, his voice steady despite the tension that coiled in his chest.
Bartholomew glanced up lazily, his golden eyes narrowing. “You’re not my usual waiter,” he said, his voice a low rumble.
“I doubt you’ll want others seeing what I’m about to show you,” Rico said, setting the glass down with deliberate care. He slid a folded napkin beside it. “It’s private.”
Bartholomew’s lips curled into a faint, humorless smile. “Jake,” he called, his voice cutting through the room like a whip. “You and the girl, step outside. I’ll call if I need you.”
Rico blinked, confusion flickering across his face. The girl? Before he could piece it together, movement beneath the table caught his eye. A lioness crawled out, wiping the back of her hand across her mouth as she confidently met his gaze. Rico’s ears perked up as surprise and envy hit him.
“Understood, boss,” Jake said, his massive frame stepping aside to let the lioness leave. The curtain swished back into place, leaving Rico and Bartholomew alone in a room that suddenly felt much smaller.
“You have my attention young man,” Bartholomew said, reclining slightly in his chair, his claws tapping idly against the table. “Now, what is this all about?”
Rico reached into his harness, retrieving the holo-cube. His pulse raced as he activated it, the life-size image materializing in midair—a crystal-clear depiction of Vivian Stoneclaw exiting a hotel with Moses Lightfur, their closeness unmistakable.
Bartholomew’s eyes narrowed, his gaze flicking between the hologram and Rico. “So,” he said, his tone unreadable. “I’m sure You’ve done your homework. How much?”
Rico didn’t flinch. “A hundred thousand dollars and this disappears forever.”
The tiger’s lips twitched, the ghost of a smile that held no warmth. “Ambitious. Give me an account number and I’ll transfer the funds” he drawled, reaching for his phone. With practiced ease, he completed the transfer, turning the screen toward Rico to confirm the payment.
“Done,” Bartholomew said, his voice smooth yet heavy with warning. “But if I find another copy, or hear so much as a whisper about this ... You’ll wish I didn’t.”
Rico nodded stiffly, handing over the holo-cube. “You won’t,” he said, the words leaving a fearful taste in his mouth.
As he exited the dining room, the weight of the tiger’s gaze followed him like a promise.
Jane stood outside Moses’s office door, building up the courage to confront the feelings she’d harbored for seven years. Her heartbeat thundered in her ears, and nervous energy coursed through her in the silent hallway. Her heart raced as she stood there, her mind swirling with doubts and simmering rage. Seven years—seven long years—she’d spent as his confidant, his secretary, and, at times, his accomplice. Her stomach churned, jealousy twisting her thoughts into a chaotic tangle after Ruth’s confession about her encounter with Moses.
Her fingers hovered over the handle. Memories of countless late nights spent planning his affairs flooded her mind—the ones she had orchestrated and the ones she had hoped would draw them closer. Now, Ruth, his estranged daughter, had re-entered the picture, casting a shadow over everything Jane had built with Moses. “Even she gets more of his attention than I ever had,” Jane thought bitterly.
Squaring her shoulders, she gripped the handle, pushed the door open, and stepped inside.
The office was bathed in light, the warm glow reflecting off polished wooden shelves and religious artifacts. At the center of it all, Moses sat behind his desk, his silver fur catching the light as he leaned forward, transfixed by the holographic cube on his desk.
The cube cycled through images of Ruth, an intimate montage of her life from childhood to adolescence. Jane’s eyes widened as she caught glimpses of Ruth’s private moments—a youthful laugh, a sultry glance, even scenes so personal they sent an involuntary flush of arousal through her. Moses, oblivious to her entrance, stared down at the cube as if searching for answers it alone could provide.
Jane’s fists clenched at her sides. “Moses,” she said, her voice sharp and cutting through the heavy silence.
He glanced up briefly, his golden eyes distant. “Not now, Jane,” he said curtly, dismissing her with a wave of his hand.
She stepped forward, her voice rising with frustration. “It’s never ’ now,’ is it, Moses?”
Moses sighed his focus still on the holo-cube. “I’m dealing with something important. Can we talk later?”
Her nails bit into her palms as anger bubbled to the surface. “Later?” she echoed, her voice trembling. “You’re staring at her—at Ruth. Is that more important than everything I’ve done for you?”
His dismissal felt like a slap. Jane’s composure cracked, and her words spilled out in a torrent. “Seven years, Moses! Seven years I’ve stood by you! I’ve covered for you, helped you, and even brought women to you when you asked. And for what?”
Moses leaned back in his chair, finally meeting her gaze. “Jane, you’re overreacting,” he said, his tone steady but distant.
“Overreacting?” Her voice rose, thick with frustration. “You found Vivian Stoneclaw without me. You don’t need me for anything anymore, do you? Now that Ruth’s back in your life, I’m nothing to you!”
Moses’s expression didn’t change. “This isn’t about you,” he said firmly.
Jane’s breath hitched, her voice softening as desperation crept in. “Then what is it about, Moses?” She stepped closer, her trembling hands gripping the edge of his desk. “When will it ever be about me? When will I be something more to you?”
He sighed heavily, his gaze flickering back to the holo-cube. “Jane, I’ve told you. This isn’t the time.”
Tears threatened to spill, but she held them back, her voice cracking. “It’s never the time,” she whispered. The words lingered in the air, fragile and trembling.
For a moment, she waited, hoping—praying—that Moses would say something, anything to make her sacrifices feel worthwhile. But he said nothing. He picked up the holo-cube, his attention returning to the images of Ruth.
The silence was deafening as Jane turned on her heel and stormed out, slamming the door behind her. The hallway’s carpet muffled her angry footsteps, the quiet only amplifying the storm of heartbreak and fury inside her. “I’ll never be enough for him,” she thought bitterly.
Back in his office, Moses leaned back in his chair, the holo-cube cradled in his hands. He stared at the flickering images of Ruth—her laughter, her innocence, her unguarded intimacy. His jaw tightened as her voice echoed from the cube.
“Do you like looking at me, Daddy? Am I pretty? I miss you, Daddy. Do you miss me?”
The young image of his daughter said as she lay on her bed. Spreading open her young pussy for him.
The words cut through the quiet, and his golden eyes clouded with guilt and longing. He closed his eyes, the weight of his choices pressing down on him like a physical burden. “What kind of man have I become?” he thought.
The holo-cube continued its cycle, displaying Ruth’s images—innocent, sexy and sentimental—sent to him by her over the years.
Ruth paced the length of the dim hotel room, her bare feet brushing against the threadbare carpet. The air conditioner hummed softly, blending with the distant hum of city traffic outside. Each step crackled with restless energy as if walking could unravel the tight knots of anger and betrayal coiling in her chest.
Five steps forward, a sharp pivot, five steps back. Her hands betrayed her unease, tugging at the straps of her harness, then brushing through her tangled reddish hair. Thoughts of Claude’s confession churned in her mind, each revelation striking like a dagger to her trust.
“He orchestrated everything,” she spat, halting abruptly in the center of the room. Her fists clenched so tightly that her nails bit into her palms. “Moses—my father—he manipulated it all!”
Max and Lily sat silently on the loveseat, their concern palpable in the heavy air. Ruth couldn’t meet their gazes. She continued, her voice trembling with rage. “Claude tried to reach out after I was expelled, but my father...” Her throat tightened, choking the words before they could escape.
