The morning air carried a hint of rain as Vivian stepped out of the taxi in front of L&B Interior Studio. She adjusted the strap of her leather portfolio and looked up at the sleek glass building.

Only three days ago, she had stood in the same spot with trembling hands, wondering whether she still belonged in the world of design.

Today, the nervousness had lessened.

She wasn’t completely confident yet, but she was beginning to believe that perhaps this was where she was meant to be.

As she entered the studio, the receptionist looked up and smiled.

“Good morning, Miss Hart.”

The words caught Vivian off guard.

Miss Hart.

Not Mrs. Kingsley.

Not the wife of one of the country’s most powerful businessmen.

Just ... Vivian Hart.

She smiled back.

“Good morning.”

Inside the design studio, several employees were already gathered around the large conference table. Rolls of blueprints, fabric swatches, and material samples covered almost every inch of the surface.

Chris looked up as she approached.

“Perfect timing.”

“Lena has been looking for you.”

Almost on cue, Lena stepped out of her office.

“There you are.”

She handed Vivian a neatly organized file.

“Our clients from yesterday called first thing this morning.”

Vivian accepted the folder.

“Is something wrong with the proposal?”

Lena laughed.

“Quite the opposite.”

“They approved it.”

Vivian blinked.

“So quickly?”

“They loved every detail.”

“They’ve signed the contract.”

For a second, Vivian simply stared at her.

The contract...

Her very first project at the studio had been approved.

She had imagined celebrating the moment for weeks, maybe months.

Instead, it had happened so quickly that she hardly knew how to react.

Lena smiled warmly.

“Congratulations.”

“You’ve just brought one of the biggest projects this studio has received this year.”

The rest of the team applauded.

Vivian felt heat rise to her cheeks.

“Thank you...”

Chris folded his arms with an exaggerated sigh.

“Some of us worked here for months before landing a client.”

“You’ve been here for three days.”

Vivian laughed.

“I think I just got lucky.”

Daniel shook his head.

“Luck gets you an interview.”

“Talent gets you the contract.”

Nearly an hour later, Lena called Vivian into her office.

The room overlooked the city skyline, decorated with modern furniture and framed architectural sketches collected over many years.

Lena closed the door behind them.

“I have another opportunity.”

Vivian sat across from her desk.

“I’m listening.”

“A hotel chain wants to renovate the executive lounge in one of their flagship properties.”

“They’ve requested three different design firms to compete.”

Vivian frowned slightly.

“So we’d be competing for the project?”

“Exactly.”

“And I want you to prepare our presentation.”

Vivian looked genuinely surprised.

“Me?”

“You’ve barely known me a week.”

Lena leaned back in her chair.

“I don’t hire people based on how long I’ve known them.”

“I hire people based on what they can do.”

She pushed another folder across the desk.

“I trust your instincts.”

Vivian slowly picked it up.

The responsibility felt enormous.

“I’ll do my best.”

“I know you will.”

Across the city, Adrian stepped into another meeting room.

Several executives from overseas had arrived earlier that morning.

Sophia stood beside the projector, organizing financial reports.

“The investors are ready,” she said.

Adrian nodded.

“Let’s begin.”

For the next three hours, discussions revolved around expansion plans, construction projects, and international partnerships.

Every decision Adrian made increased the company’s value.

Every signature added another success to his career.

Yet while he was building an empire...

He remained completely unaware that his wife was quietly rebuilding herself.

At lunchtime, Ethan entered Adrian’s office carrying a folder.

“Sir.”

“The charity foundation sent another invitation.”

Adrian continued reading a contract.

“Leave it there.”

“They’ve specifically requested both you and Mrs. Kingsley.”

“I’ll review it later.”

Ethan placed the envelope on the desk.

He knew exactly what would happen.

By tomorrow...

The invitation would still be unopened.

Back at L&B Interior Studio...

Vivian stood before a large mood board covered in colors, textures, and photographs.

She gently moved one fabric sample beside another before stepping back.

“No...”

She murmured.

“The lighting won’t work.”

She removed the darker fabric and replaced it with a lighter shade.

Immediately, the entire design felt warmer.

Daniel watched quietly from across the room.

“You notice details other people ignore.”

Vivian smiled.

“My professor used to say a room tells people how to feel before they even sit down.”

Daniel nodded thoughtfully.

“I like that.”

He looked at the board again.

“I think your design tells people they’re welcome.”

Vivian looked at the sketch for a long moment.

She realized something.

For years...

She had spent all her energy making one person feel comfortable.

Now she was creating spaces where complete strangers could feel at home.

Somehow...

That felt healing.

Vivian remained in the design room long after everyone else had returned to their desks.

The hotel lounge project spread across the large table before her. Photographs, floor plans, lighting samples, and pages of handwritten notes surrounded her.

She picked up a pencil and stared at the blueprint.

Luxury wasn’t about expensive furniture.
