The alarm rang at exactly six o’clock.

Vivian opened her eyes before it could ring a second time.

For a brief moment, she forgot where she was.

Then the events of the previous day came rushing back.

Her first day at L&B Interior Studio.

The warm welcome.

The laughter.

The excitement of creating something with her own hands again.

A genuine smile spread across her face.

It had been years since she had looked forward to waking up.

She stretched before climbing out of bed.

Outside the bedroom window, the early morning sun painted the gardens in shades of gold. Dew clung to the roses she had planted years ago.

They looked beautiful.

She silently promised herself she would spend more time in the garden whenever she could.

After showering, Vivian dressed in a powder-blue blouse tucked neatly into a pair of cream trousers. A simple silver wristwatch completed her outfit.

She looked professional without trying too hard.

As she walked downstairs, the familiar smell of breakfast greeted her.

Mrs. Eleanor was already waiting.

“You look even more confident today.”

Vivian laughed softly.

“I don’t think so.”

“Oh, I think so.”

Mrs. Eleanor placed a plate of toast on the table.

“Yesterday, you walked out of this house looking nervous.”

“This morning...”

“ ... you look excited.”

Vivian couldn’t deny it.

She was excited.

Not because life had suddenly become perfect.

But because she had something to call her own again.

Adrian entered the dining room a few minutes later.

He was already dressed for work, a file tucked beneath one arm while he checked messages on his phone.

“Morning.”

“Good morning,” Vivian replied.

He sat down.

Mrs. Eleanor poured coffee into his cup before stepping away.

The room fell silent.

Vivian calmly buttered a slice of toast.

She no longer watched Adrian while he ate.

She no longer reminded him about his meetings.

She no longer asked whether he had slept well.

Those little habits had disappeared so naturally that Adrian didn’t notice them.

His phone buzzed.

Sophia.

“The investors confirmed tomorrow’s meeting,” she said over the phone.

“I’ve already prepared the presentation.”

“I’ll review it at the office.”

“Perfect.”

After ending the call, Adrian continued eating.

He glanced at Vivian.

“You’re leaving early again?”

“Yes.”

He nodded once.

“Alright.”

That was all.

He didn’t ask where she was going.

He didn’t ask how her first day had gone.

He simply finished breakfast, picked up his briefcase, and stood.

“I’m leaving.”

“Have a good day.”

“You too.”

Within moments, the front door closed behind him.

Mrs. Eleanor looked toward Vivian with disappointment.

“He still doesn’t know.”

Vivian calmly sipped her tea.

“It’s alright.”

“No, Madam.”

“It isn’t.”

“He didn’t even ask about your first day.”

Vivian smiled gently.

“I’ve stopped expecting him to.”

Her voice carried no anger.

Only acceptance.

Nearly an hour later, Vivian arrived at L&B Interior Studio.

The office was already buzzing with activity.

“Morning, Vivian!” Mia called as soon as she walked in.

“Morning.”

Chris wheeled his chair across the room.

“The client loved your concept.”

Vivian blinked.

“They’ve already seen it?”

“Lena sent it last night.”

“And?”

Chris grinned.

“They’ve requested to meet the designer personally.”

Vivian looked at Lena in surprise.

“So soon?”

Lena emerged from her office carrying a folder.

“They were impressed.”

“They’ve canceled every previous proposal.”

“They only want yours.”

Vivian stared at the folder in disbelief.

“I’ve only been here one day.”

Lena smiled.

“Talent doesn’t wait for permission.”

She handed Vivian the file.

“The meeting is tomorrow morning.”

“I want you to lead it.”

Vivian immediately shook her head.

“I’ve never presented to luxury clients before.”

“I’ll be there.”

Lena placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder.

“But this project is yours.”

“You deserve the credit.”

Vivian took a slow breath.

Then nodded.

“I’ll do my best.”

“I know you will.”

As Lena walked away, Chris leaned over and whispered with a grin,

“You’ve only been here twenty-four hours.”

“At this rate, you’ll be running this place before Christmas.”

Vivian laughed.

“I think Lena would fire me first.”

Chris chuckled.

“Trust me.”

“She likes you too much.”

For the first time in a very long while...

Vivian felt like she belonged somewhere.

Not because she was someone’s wife.

Not because of a famous surname.

But because of her own ability.

And without realizing it...

She stood a little taller than she had the day before.

By noon, L&B Interior Studio was buzzing with activity.

Design samples covered every available table. Rolls of wallpaper leaned against the walls, while furniture catalogs lay scattered across desks. Phones rang every few minutes as clients called to confirm appointments.

Vivian had never imagined that an interior design studio could be this lively.

She loved every second of it.

She stood before a large whiteboard, carefully reviewing the penthouse project Lena had assigned to her.

“If we move the dining area closer to the windows,” Vivian said, pointing at the floor plan, “the natural lighting will make the entire apartment feel larger.”

Daniel nodded thoughtfully.

“I hadn’t considered that.”

Chris looked over the sketch.

“Neither did I.”

Mia smiled.

“I think she’s right.”

Lena, who had been quietly listening from the doorway, folded her arms with a satisfied smile.

“I knew hiring you was the right decision.”
