“Miss Hart! One question, please!”
Vivian had barely stepped off the stage before a crowd of reporters rushed toward her.
Camera flashes burst from every direction, turning the elegant exhibition hall into a sea of dazzling lights. Microphones stretched toward her, voices overlapping as journalists fought to ask the first question.
“Miss Hart, your presentation received a standing ovation. Did you expect such a response?”
“Can you tell us what inspired the Royal Horizon Hotel design?”
“Are you accepting new projects?”
For a split second, Vivian froze.
Only this morning, she had walked into the exhibition unnoticed, quietly carrying her presentation folder while people brushed past her without a second glance.
Now...
The same people were calling her name.
Lena gently touched her shoulder.
“Take your time,” she whispered. “Answer one question at a time.”
Vivian let out a slow breath before offering the reporters a warm smile.
“Thank you all for your kindness. Honestly ... I didn’t expect any of this. I simply wanted people to understand the story behind my design.”
One reporter leaned forward.
“Your speech moved many people to tears. Which part of it came from personal experience?”
The smile on Vivian’s face softened.
She glanced briefly at the award still resting in her hands.
“I believe a beautiful building isn’t remembered because of its walls. It’s remembered because of how it makes people feel. I wanted every guest walking into that hotel to feel welcomed ... like they had finally found a place where they belonged.”
Silence fell over the group.
Then pens began moving.
Cameras clicked.
One journalist smiled.
“I think that’s tomorrow’s headline.”
Vivian laughed shyly.
“I hope the hotel owners don’t mind.”
The crowd laughed with her, and the nervousness in her chest slowly disappeared.
For the first time...
She wasn’t speaking because she had to.
She was speaking because people genuinely wanted to hear her.
Across the hall, Adrian Kingsley watched the scene unfold.
His hands remained tucked inside the pockets of his tailored suit, but his attention never left Vivian.
He had attended countless business events over the years.
Normally, reporters would surround him the moment he arrived.
Investors would ask for meetings.
Executives would compete for a few minutes of his time.
Today...
No one seemed interested.
Every camera was pointed at Vivian.
Every conversation seemed to begin with the same two words.
“Vivian Hart.”
Two senior architects stood a few feet away.
“I’ve reviewed her portfolio,” one of them said. “Her work is exceptional.”
“The confidence she showed on stage was even more impressive,” the other replied. “She didn’t just explain a design. She made everyone feel something.”
Adrian lowered his eyes.
Confidence.
That wasn’t a word he had ever associated with his wife.
At home, she spoke gently.
She apologized too often.
She always seemed careful not to disturb anyone.
But the woman standing in front of those reporters...
She looked completely different.
Not louder.
Not arrogant.
Just...
Certain of herself.
Ethan stepped beside him.
“Sir, Mr. Harrison is waiting to discuss the investment proposal.”
Adrian didn’t move.
“Tell him I’ll be there in a few minutes.”
Ethan followed Adrian’s gaze before a small smile crossed his face.
“I’ve never seen Mrs. Kingsley this popular.”
Neither had Adrian.
A black Bentley rolled to a smooth stop outside the exhibition center.
The driver quickly stepped out and opened the rear door.
A tall man dressed in a charcoal-gray suit emerged, adjusting the cuff of his sleeve before looking toward the entrance.
“Mr. Ashford,” his assistant said. “The exhibition is almost over.”
Gabriel Ashford smiled faintly.
“I know.”
“I wasn’t here for the exhibition.”
His assistant looked confused.
“Then...?”
Gabriel’s eyes settled on the large digital screen hanging above the entrance.
A replay of Vivian’s presentation was playing.
“I came to meet the woman who gave that speech.”
Inside the hall, Vivian finally escaped the circle of reporters.
Chris hurried over, nearly out of breath.
“There you are!”
Vivian laughed.
“I’ve been standing here the whole time.”
“I know, but apparently half the city wants to talk to you first.”
Daniel walked over holding his phone.
“You should probably see this.”
He turned the screen toward her.
The exhibition’s official page had uploaded a short clip from her presentation less than fifteen minutes earlier.
The view count was climbing so quickly it refreshed every second.
Twelve thousand.
Nineteen thousand.
Twenty-eight thousand.
Thirty-six thousand...
Vivian stared at the numbers.
“Is ... is this normal?”
Chris burst into laughter.
“For ordinary people? No.”
Lena folded her arms proudly.
“I told you this presentation would change your career.”
Vivian looked back at the screen.
Hundreds of comments poured in.
“Who is Vivian Hart?”
“I need this woman to design my house.”
“Her speech gave me goosebumps.”
“This is the best presentation I’ve watched all year.”
Vivian smiled.
Not because of the praise.
But because...
For the first time in years...
She finally believed she had earned something on her own.
She had built it herself.
Without hiding behind anyone’s name.
Without anyone’s influence.
Without anyone’s permission.
She had done it.
Little did she know...
Across the city, someone was staring at the same video with a very different expression.
A smile slowly disappeared from Sophia’s face.
“ ... Interesting.”
She picked up her phone and dialed a familiar number.
When the call connected, she spoke only one sentence.
“Looks like Vivian Hart is becoming a problem.”
Gabriel’s arrival quickly caught the attention of everyone nearby.
Several businessmen exchanged surprised glances.
“Isn’t that Gabriel Ashford?”
“The Ashford Developments CEO?”
“I heard he turned down three famous designers this year.”
“What is he doing here?”
Gabriel ignored the whispers as he stopped before Vivian.
He offered a courteous smile.
“Miss Hart.”
Vivian returned the smile politely.
“Good afternoon.”
“My name is Gabriel Ashford.”
“I know who you are,” Vivian admitted with a small laugh. “Your company designed the Ashford Towers.”
Gabriel’s brows lifted slightly.
“I’m impressed.”
“I research the people who inspire me.”
That answer amused him.
“So you prepared for success before it arrived.”
Vivian smiled but said nothing.
Gabriel glanced at the crystal award in her hands.
“I’ve attended this exhibition for six years.”
“I’ve never stayed until the closing ceremony.”
“This year...”
“I didn’t want to leave without meeting the woman who changed the atmosphere of an entire room.”
Vivian lowered her eyes, embarrassed by the compliment.
“You’re giving me too much credit.”
“No.”
